Installed RA and well..

Installed this a few minutes ago and tried the mission Barren seas Loiter or something like that

2 issues I found before I ended it.

1. Shot 2 torpedoes at an Akula, both torpedoes launched and then sat where they launched at?? Neither one went anywhere?

2. At start had Sonar Autocrew OFF, and all a sudden they started naming contacts.
Turned it on and off a few times and after it spit out 3 more contacts it finally stopped.

Doesn't seem this RA is working?:k_confused:

It doesn't sound like it installed correctly, no :D

What operating system are you on? I'm on Windows 7 and always run the installer batch file as an administrator.

A-Ganger 07-19-17 02:35 PM

Win 7 here also.
Install finished and had NO errors, then I installed Oscar fix too for MP.

I extracted the .rar into DW directory, then ran
install_OPFOR_DWX1_42.bat as Admin.

In the game it launched fine and I see all the new missions etc.

Maybe that mission is screwed up and would take someone to try it out also to see.

Also, I got the game thru Steam and it is updated. The only issue with Steam is that you cannot see what version of the game you have.

Ok here we go, that mission must be bugged.
I started mission again, did a snapshot MK 48.

Same thing happened! But check this out.

When I clicked on Pre-enable, the torpedo took off like it should.
And if you click Enable, the torpedo will instantly stop.

Barren Seas Loiter mission. I don't know how to get this info to the creater cos I can't read anything on the Mod page....I'm not Russian and Firefox has no translater.

FPSchazly 07-19-17 03:05 PM

That only happens in that mission? Barents Sea Loiter is an original Dangerous Waters mission. Did the RA guys tune it for RA? But that's odd, I wouldn't think a bug in a mission would stop a torpedo from moving. That sounds more like a game bug than a mission bug.

A-Ganger 07-19-17 03:08 PM

688H?K Mission 04 does the same!

Removing RA mod now

FPSchazly 07-19-17 03:35 PM

Try installing just the base mod on a fresh install of Dangerous Waters. This is important. Each time you install it, it has to be a fresh installation of Dangerous Waters. Try it just that way first before adding patches.

You mean base mod as in just RA 1.42, or bas mod as in DW without any patches to the game itself?

My game is installed via Steam so it downloads whatever is the latest patch for the game itself.

A-Ganger 07-19-17 04:01 PM

Completely removed the game, reinstalled. Tested worked fine.

Then did another install of RA 1.42 and Oscar fix and tested it on same Barren Seas Loiter.

All worked, torpedoes fired normally.

FPSchazly 07-19-17 04:20 PM

Glad to hear it! RA can be fickle

A-Ganger 07-19-17 11:40 PM

I agree. It must not have like the sfg (all the game sounds) file I had modified.
It's all working now but omg I can't seem to get Sonar right..lol

phantomkira 07-20-17 09:00 PM

My turn...

I've had RA 1.40 working in the past, but having just wiped my entire backup HD (long story, NOT happy), I no longer have it.

Could someone walk me through the specifics of this install. I read his (not super clear) directions, and followed them as best I could, but things didn't go well.

Attempt 1: Installed all the new files directly to C:, not the DW folder.

Attempt 2. Manually pulled files from the DWX 142 folder and dumped them into DW 104 folder. Splash screen okay, but the cinimatic doesn't display the Kilo accurately - then crashes.

Attempt 3. Did as A-Granger mentions here, "extracted the .rar into DW directory, then ran install_OPFOR_DWX1_42.bat as Admin.". Debug Assertion Failed C++ library. Then... cmpUtil.exe as stopped working! Yay!

Attempt 4. RA_OPFOR_DWX1_42 folder into DW 104, Install_OPFOR_DWX1_42.BAT file into DW 104. Run
Install_OPFOR_DWX1_42.BAT file as admin. Supposedly successful (Lies, I tell you! Lies!). Run DW.exe, in the supposedly patched 104 game... get 104.

So obviously I'm missing something somewhere along the line. Oh, by the way, when it asks during the install about "is this a file or a directory?", what's the correct answer? I've used both, and neither seems to matter.

Sigh. Why do I insist that any game I have must be modded again? (Oh yeah, it's so I can have as close to the game I want rather than the one they think I want.)

FPSchazly 07-20-17 09:20 PM

So, when you open the RAR, there will be the RA folder and the batch file. Put those two things in your Dangerous Waters directory in their entirety. Just those two things, nothing else. You don't need to manually unpack anything beside these two files. Now run the batch file. I recommend doing it as an administrator on Windows 7.

Many thanks, FPSchazly. It worked. I swear I did that before, but it didn't work. Who knows? No I. :Kaleun_Thumbs_Up:
