[REL] Torpedo loadout editor for u-boats

RELEASED IN GAMEPLAY MODS!!! ENJOY!!! :woot:

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Having gotten so much from the community I thought it fair to attempt something back.

I'm wondering if there is any interest in a loadout editor for u-boats in this mod.

Unfortunately its going to be in excel via macros but the good news is that it will write directly to the game file and the loadout can be jsgme compatible so there will be no fidddling about with notepad etc etc.

Some screenshots below, eta of about a week possibly 2.

As an example. We go to the excel file, choose a type 2 Zaunkoning (homing torpedos) for each of the 4 forward tubes. The spreadsheet will write to the files in SH4 and presto! The 4 homing torps appear in the game.:rotfl:

Any chance of having an editor with both fleet and u-boat settings? i.e configurable?

Great to see one in progress though:)

Being a noob, I'm not sure I know what you mean by fleet settings, I can do one for different types of u-boat later (lets get the IXD working first!);)

Oh sorry, Fleetboats are US subs :D

And it is not a demand, just an encouraging question :know:

And you answered my Question, you are doing this Sub by Sub, so thats a yes!

P.S, this should be moved to the SH4 MODS section.

I think I saw an editor for fleet boats already:

Its much better than mine.

Not even sure if it is 1.5 compatable. It was made last year.

Sure, it has a pretty picture behind the gui. And it has a drop down menu for multiple boats. I'm sure if you make multiple boat files you may get 'the bug' and do a dropdown also :p

Anyway, that one ONLY does Fleetboats. There are no U-boats in it.

Walmis, the author of the one you linked, said that one took him 5 days also. You have only just started

Go for it!

It's a great idea. I tried the existing one and couldn't get it to work in a career, and since that's all I've played so far it wasn't worth much to me. Sounds like yours being JSGME compatible, it might work for me too. Looking forward to trying it out and checking out your Excel macros.

Onward, into the fog!

We should translate it into classical Latin and use it as our modders' motto.

I have a prototype now, anyone want to give it a test drive please reply via this thread, I'll give it to the first two replies.

At the moment you must have excel 2007, if you have an earlier version, it is a 45mb file! Other wise its about 13mb.

Cheers

rat sub 10-26-09 05:01 PM

any chance of posting the download link mate

bratwurstdimsum 11-04-09 06:35 AM

I've applied to get this put on the downloads list but there's been a deafening silence so far :06: I've put it on megaupload, not sure of the restrictions between too many people downloading it etc etc.

Can someone please test this for me and give me feedback. BUT FIRST READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW BEFORE INSTALLING AND RUNNING

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1R20TIHO

Prerequisites:
  • This is an excel file that requires Excel 2003 or later.
  • JSGME.exe (mod enabler)
  • This only works for the Type IX sub
  • Knowledge of where your SH4 installation directory is...preferably C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific
  • You must have a "MODS" folder in your main game directory

How this calculator works

This calculator allows you to change (using excel) the torpedoes that the sub can store on board before going to sea. You then press a button that creates a new configuration file containing those torpedo settings into a mods subfolder. Using JSGME, you then enable this file to be used by SHIV and bingo. The next time your TYPE IX goes to see it could be with a full set of type 11 homing fishes !!!

Instructions (read this first!!!!)
  1. Unzip this file directly into your MODS folder. When done it should contain a folder called "Custom torpedoes IXD", (ensure that winzip has not created another folder inside this one with the same name!)
  2. Go to excel file and copy it to whereever you want...desktop is good for me.
  3. Ensure you haven't loaded this mod in JSGME!!!
  4. Disable the schnorkel mod if you have it enabled.
  5. Run excel file.
  6. Go to the second tab marked "IXD Loadout"
  7. Follow instructions.
  8. Exit excel (you can save if you wish but its not necessary)
  9. Run JSGME
  10. Enable "Custom torpedoes IXD" THEN Enable Schnorkel mod if you have it

Please note this is still a work in progress and hasn't been tested outside my PC. Please use at own risk!! :arrgh!:

Can this tool add extra torpedoes. I mean there is option to change type of torpedoes, is there any tool to change number of them?

Thanks
