Debbie does Doomsday

I'm working on a review of Richard Golden's novel Depth of Revenge (by that, I mean I read the book and need to get started)...in the meantime, I thought I would share something I found with you:

Within 2 days of Rosenbaum's article, the Amazon ranking for Depth of Revenge shot up as high as number 2600 and number 7 on the war fiction list. :yeah:

Gotta admit, I'm a Doomsday porn-junkie *holds up hands*

Got The Day After, Threads and Jericho on the shelf and several Cold War gone hot novels upstairs on the bookshelves.
Interesting to see it making a resurgance, indicative of the times of uncertainty we live in following the 9/11 bursting of the comfortable little bubble we put around ourselves after watching the Berlin wall come down. :hmmm:

Good article, thanks Neal :yeah:

Have you watched the Miracle Mile? I highly recommend it :yep:

An interesting related article:

Yes! That article is mentioned in the nuke porn piece, same author.

Review is up.

Quote:

What Depth of Revenge is not, is a wish fulfillment story; the carefully crafted build up to the novel's climax steers clear of heroics or sermonizing. Golden's novel is a sober, genuinely thought-provoking examination of the next September 11, on a vastly more terrifying scale, and will likely be regarded as prophetic in the years after theocracies like Iran develop their own nuclear arsenal.

I haven't, I'll have to check it out, thanks :yeah:

Just read your review, it looks like a fantastically well written novel that steers clear of the usual pitfalls of the genre.
Thanks Neal :salute:

Appreciate that, Oberon. It is a good book, one that may one day be considered as prescient, I'm afraid.

I've asked the author to post here if any readers have questions.

I'm nearly finished with Depth of Revenge -- excellent story! Thanks for pointing us to it, Neal.

Next on my 'to read' stack is Larry Bond's new novel Cold Choices. USS Seawolf in the Barents Sea, gotta love it!

:ahoy:
