Engine telegraph sound

So, the engine telegraph ring (That you hear when changing speeds) annoys me. I generally have my sound up quite a bit to hear everything else (unfortunately, no quiet PC room for me.), and then I change speeds....And I become deaf:O:

Does anyone have a modified version that's less loud, or know which sound file it is? I went through a few sound files in the game folders, but couldn't determine which one it is.
Or, if someone knows how to replace it with the silent running telegraph tick, that's fine too!

Many thanks!

Going through my sound files it looks as though it's in the speech files along with the actual orders. Though, I'm using quite a few sound mods, I think it's Thomsen's Sound Pack that lessens the volume on the bell sound.

I recommend that you download Goldwave (be sure it's an older version... search for Goldwave windows 98 and take the latest windows 98-compatible version... it's free). Once you have done so, it should be a simple matter for you to load the sound file in question and change the volume of the offending part. You can use the left mouse button to set the beginning and the right mouse button to set the end, and then adjust the volume as you see fit.

Or, if you like Goldwave a lot, perhaps you'll buy the latest version. Who knows?

I've got a program that can edit sounds, so that shouldn't be a problem, but many thanks for the recommendation.
But, which sound file is it? I can't quite seem to find it in the folders.

I'm not 100 percent clear on which part of the sound annoys you. However, I have noticed a ring-ring sound at the end of most orders. I believe that several sound files may need to be edited.

In my directory C:\SilentHunterIII\data\Sound\Speech\1 I find

ChE_K_Ahead_Flank

and multiple other files below that.

I believe that similar files may be found under:

You can remove it with this mod - http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...do=file&id=419

I know it says GWX2 but works with 3 also, I'm sure I did. Not currently living with that PC to check.
