On a lighter note:

Last time this was brought up, there were a few non-believers, but here we go again.

First, Im running TMOwtw no other mods.

I was patrolling Luzon Straits when I saw the ' Flying Dutchman' as some call it.

12/31/1941 at 1853 location 120'53" E, 21'00" N.
He was headed NE at 25 kts (not bad for a square rigger)
Also ran across him on 1/4/1942 at 1100 near the same area .

Periscope ship ID says: "What is This?"

It's been a long time since I bumped into that ship.

I saw her (reported on the FOTARSU thread last week) in about the same area. Must not be unique to TMO since I was running the beta FOTARS-Ultimate v0.71 Mod.

No fancy equipment is needed to find the Flying Dutchman (aka: De Vliegende Hollander) in the waters of Luzon Strait in Silent Hunter 4, even in stock trim. He has been known to haunt those waters since the 17th Century's golden age of the Dutch East India Company (VOC). Supposedly, it still traverses those waters, searching for a port it can never land. Legend has it that sighting his ship is a portent of doom...

Some naysayers say it's an optical illusion, a "superior mirage" or "Fata Morgana", seen at sea by those suffering from not using the facilities often enough. A back-up of B.S., if you will...

Guilty as charged! I throw myself on the tender mercies of the Court.

Oh, I've seen him too... of course, it was after having consumed a pepperoni pizza single-handedly...

The court, however, has no tender mercy... only justice. We are guilty as charged...

At least the Dutchman shoots at Japanese ships with it's cannons.
