Which to choose...?

I'm in the mood for a new flying game, so recommendations please for Wings of Prey or Battle of Britain II.

Battle of Britain: Storm of War is supposed to be coming soon. It should have been out a while ago actually... :hmmm:

Comparing to the WWII sims I know: EAW, Janes WWII fighters, the complete IL-2 series and IL-1946, I must say that BoBII:Wings of Victory is the superior of the pack. You need to patch it to make it stable, but then it is a dream, to fly in. It includes physics-relevant details the other titles have not even heared of. The AI is better, and battles can be as huge in size as in EAW if your hardware supports it. It can be played as an operational strategy game, too, if you want. The only thing I would comment negatively on is that bomber formations use a weired kind of synchronous movement. But the effect on mission gameplay is not effected from that. Compared to this one, the IL-2 planes fly like toys, and it's AI is lousy.

Thanks to an amazon sale and a steam sale I've picked them both up, inc Luftwaffe for less than I was going to pay for just one! Billy bargain. Just need to find time to play now :yep:

@Skybird
May I ask what physical elements BoB II has that IL2 1946 is missing? I heard some good and some bad stuff about it so I just thought I ask for details now.:D

IL-2 isn't missing anything especially since the 4.10 patch.

Haven't really looked under the hood of BoB II that much, but I guess Skybird is referring to the dynamical airflow thingy that was introduced in 2.10 (IIRC). Something that BoB:SoW is supposed introduce (again IIRC).

Also, the AI planes are AFAIK restricted by the same physics that apply to the player, they'll not be pulling impossible stunts without either passing out or losing control/damaging their plane.
