Campaign "Earning your dolphins"

I'm on the mission "Doing Drugs" and who ever made this mission was on drugs....

I need to use cruise missles to hit 3 different drug factories and the Cuban coast has a row of SAMs along it. The missles I fire are- I assume- shot down before they make it half way to their targets. I've tried targeting the SAMs first, Ive tried flying around the SAMs... I cant get my missles even close to these drug factories.

Have any of you ever completed this mission?

If you're using Reinforce Alert, you need to do something different to set waypoints, otherwise the missiles think the first waypoint is the target. The 'destruct range' field needs to be equivalent to the waypoint where the target is located. So, if the target is at waypoint 4, the destruct range should say 4. At least that's how I'm interpreting the weapons manual right now.

Thanks, I will check that out when I play the mission over again.

And thanks for the good videos on youtube I've watched a bunch of them.

There's lots of info in there, many things don't behave as they did in the stock game.

You're welcome!

1 year late, but maybe someone will google and will find this.

Im playing with 1.44 reinforced alert.

The TLAM missiles need to be programmed via the self destruct nm input field if you are using waypoints, and you need to use waypoints for your tlams here.

So by default they explode midair when reaching the first waypoint because the field by default says:

Quote:

Destruct range (nm) 0001
You can change this from 0001 to 0004 depending on which waypoint you want them to detonate at... in midair. Yeah. I guess it should activate when reaching a designated waypoint instead of just exploding in mid-air, but in 1.44 its bugged.

If you enter 0005 however, the missile will briefly activate after every checkpoint, and proceed to the next checkpoint if it doesnt spot any targets. This is what you need to use. Just make sure you place your last waypoint few hundred yards in front of your estimated target. It's possible to destroy factories with this method.

HOWEVER. This mission is impossible to complete without cheating and using "show truth" in map settings. Mission requires you to destroy 4 factories, however you are given coordinates to only 3. Yeah. Given how "amazing" first 2 missions were i think im done with this campaign.

P.S I don't know who thought it was a good idea to use TLAM self destruct field as an input for tlam's firing modes, but hey, modders. I guess its assumed that we read the weapons manual (its a new manual that you can find in game manual directory if youre using Reinforced alert)

CrazyIvan was the modder who came up with the R.A. MOD. Given the limited accessability to weapon performance modification capability that Sonalysts provided I think he did fairly well in using what was there to provide his weapon performance modifications.

And YES, as a Modder myself, I would ASSUME anybody with a lick of sense would read thru what the modification does.

Especially so since R.A is a huge MOD. Playing with it WITHOUT reading the Weapon's Manual is an exercise in futility. If they don't want to read the manual they shouldn't load up the MOD in the first place.
