From "Voyage to The Bottom of The Sea". I always remember he was pretty energetic, always leaping around in a huge pair of white sneakers.

I have had a lot of favorites in the past but right now it's NCIS. I watched almost every episode of the first 2 seasons but I was on nights by the 3rd. I'm just not one for recording shows so aside from catching reruns here and there, I missed out on a lot of it. Finally decided to buy the season packs and I've been really enjoying catching up. One of my all time favorite tv moments from a fabulous season 2 episode, "Call of Silence":

Oops! I didn't realize you were talking about characters. Might as well stick with NCIS and go with Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

NCIS is excellent, and has good old Ducky who we all know from the Man from UNCLE.

Just of late I was reminded of an old British show, 'Hamish Macbeth' with pre-Trainspotting and Full Monty Robert Carlyle in it, was quite funny I recall, a sort of a Scottish version of Ballykissangel but with a copper instead of a vicar.
Was a good little series, lovely scenary, good acting from Carlyle in his first big series and a lovely wee Westie called Jock.

...

David McCallum as Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard is one of the best characters on the show. A reference was made, very cleverly, to his earlier character in one of the earlier seasons of "NCIS":

However, my favorite "NCIS" character, and one of my all time favorite characters, is Abby Sciuto, forensic scientist and resident goth played by Pauley Perrette:

There is a decided chemistry between the characters of Gibbs and Abby which is highlighted on almost every episode.

I knew David McCallum was getting up there in years but he's sure hiding it well. Hard to believe he's 82 and still going strong.

His character of Ducky has also won him fans in the fields of forensic science and criminology. He makes effort to learn as much about his character's profession as possible, and has been invited to speak at seminars, meetings, and conventions held by forensic scientists/criminologists. He reportedly holds up his end well...

Of interest, also, is the fact Pauley Perrette, who got into acting by accident, had been a criminology and forensics major in college and had been working towards a masters degree before her acting career took off...
