[REL] Charts Addon 1.3

Additional pulldown / slide charts. Installation through JSGME if using GWX+Magui F or NYGM+MaGui F, otherwise manually editing menu_1024_768.ini.

Features:
Less clicking through the ship recognition manual
- ship identification can now be made using 12 pulldown charts. Some of the ships in Merchant Fleet Mod are also modded in

Easier or faster navigation map usage
- a table with values of sin and cosine for course and range calculations
- a maneuvering board for quick bearing, course, speed and range estimations

http://i.imgur.com/6hyp5.jpg

- clock figures that one can use in marking for example bearing times

http://i.imgur.com/BjZUe.jpg
Added visual weather assessment aids
- Beaufort Wind Scale and Douglas Sea Scale slideouts added to Bridge for assessing sea states. One can now edit the weather report out from the game or not use it at all, and see if one can make accurate enough weather reports by one's own visual assessment

Usage of Hitman Beta GUI style optics in non-Hitman GUI's
-Hitman's Gegnerfahrt table for quick speed assessment when using the fixed wire system and E-messtafel for quick range assessment as slideouts in UZO and periscopes

http://i.imgur.com/FJpop.jpg

- a chart with a series of pictures at a ship at different AOB;s for quick aob assessment

http://i.imgur.com/yO5LJ.jpg
Faster torpedo settings
- a chart giving the required bearings for straight shots (perpendicular shots with the torpedo settings set as 0 gyroangle, enemy speed 0, enemy aob 0)
- a chart giving the required depth for safe torpedo launches in different sea conditions (helps those people who play with a system that has H.sie;s and Stiebler;s torpedo failures modded in)

http://i.imgur.com/2yRbX.jpg
Faster fuel load assessment
- a new fuel gauge with numbers added to scale, so that it is easier to approximate how much fuel one has use
Ship speed assessment with the hydrophone
- three charts that help assessing the speed of a ship by counting the RPM’s one can hear in the hydrophone. The charts are based on NYGM 3.6A and IABLShipsforNYGM_New, but the chart should work at least partly in other supermods and vanilla SH3 as well

EDIT:
The 8th of September, 2012: added a chart for helping in estimating when to shoot torpedoes to achieve simultaneous hits at different targets. More info here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...=198016&page=2

The 22nd of January, 2013: a new version uploaded that corrects the folder structure that made it impossible for JSGME to work. Thanks to ninja turtle, brett25 and Anvar1061 for pointing the problem and finding the solution :)

The 23rd of January, 2013: a new version uploaded that corrects a typo from menu_1072_768.ini sometimes causing a crash when using Hitman's Gegnerfahrttable chart. Big thanks to Robin40 :)

The 26th of March, 2013: a new version uploaded that corrects the AOB picture getting in the way of the dials in an annoying way. Thanks to Olsin for pointing the problem out :)

The 4th of August, 2013: I finally had some time to install NYGM. The mod installs ok, at least if the configuration is like the one pictured above.

The 8th of August, 2013: An updated version 1.3 with three new RPM/speed charts

The 30th of September, 2013: Version 1.4. released with charts for NYGM+IABLnew+TMT, maneuvering board instructions, attack disk instructions, Tycho's 4-grid scheme, etc

Thank you for the nice comments :salute:

@VonHarris: It's me who should thank you since the idea came from your initiative in an earlier discussion in SH3 Mod Workshop :)

I edited the maneuvering-board.tga file a little bit to make it a little bit easier to see. Here's a link to the new version:

http://www.gamefront.com/files/22141...ering-board.7z

If the link does not work, the package in Subsim downloads now contains the newer tga.

I also found out while playing that the line tool in MaGui F was too big to my taste while using the maneuvering board. If you decide to change the line tool to a smaller version, edit mouse.cfg to this:

[Cursor 3]
Name=Line
XO=127;XO=282
YO=129;YO=283

The XO,YO gives the co-ordinates for the cursor. Play around with the values if your line tool pic does not fit the example I gave.

Don't hurry back, at long last I had some time to play myself and noticed that there is a chart that is somewhat in the way when torpedoes are launched in MaGui F ("Bernard, keep those papers away from my face when there is a J&K destroyer 700 meters from us and I'm getting ready to torpedo it :Kaleun_Mad:)

I'll make a small modification to the mod and plan to release the correction later today.

Ok. Now fixed. The file in the downloads section is now corrected, so you can download a working version, or fix the issue yourself if you have already downloaded and don't want to download again. If you fix the thing yourself, open menu_1072_678.ini and find sections that control the sliding of aobpics.tga in different views (in my system [G26 I6], [G28 I6] and [G2B I7]). Change the third number in the Pos line. It was 770 which was too much to the right. A value of 200 is better. This is how the sections should look after corrections.

[G26 I6]
Name=aobslide
Type=1026
ItemID=0x2620F005
ParentID=0x26000000
Pos=1,768,200,800;Pos=386,760,1050,1050
VertSlide=768

and

[G28 I6]
Name=aobslide
Type=1026
ItemID=0x2806000D
ParentID=0x28000000
Pos=1,768,200,800;Pos=386,760,1050,1050
VertSlide=768

and

[G2B I7]
Name=aobslide
Type=1026
ItemID=0x2B06000F
ParentID=0x2B000000
Pos=100,-250,200,800;Pos=386,760,1050,1050
VertSlide=768

After these changes the chart for assessing aob slides down if you take the mouse cursor to upper left corner.

Great news :D I haven't bought SH5 yet and looking at a version based on MaGui makes me consider having a go at it...

LemonA 08-19-12 07:03 PM

Will try this mod. Downloading.
For those who play without any subicons (real navigation) i hope that the maneuvering-board gives not the position of the own sub away.

sublynx 08-20-12 03:07 AM

The maneuvering board doesn't give the boat's position away so it should work with real navigation. No more GPS! :arrgh!:
