Everything wrong with The Hunt for Red October

This is our narrator's 2nd favourite movie of all time, and it hurt him a little to read these sins. But no movie is without sin, so we soldier on.

I watched that the other day.

I refuse to accept any of it.

Both.

The book was better.

Movie was acceptable...but didn't follow the book. (Book's ending was much better)

Jack Ryan is married to Beverly Crusher :haha:

Never spotted that and I hope Piccard never will :)

Must have been some epic sins because the video stopped 45 seconds in.:dead::haha:
Gates was just looking for a paycheck No matter how small.:haha:
Who names a girl child "Gates"??. Must be a Scottish thang.

Sailor Steve 02-03-14 10:04 AM

Um, "Gates" is her middle name; first name Cheryl.

I watched less than a minute and got bored or disinterested. So what. I guess you could do that with any movie. Some people must like it though. He has quite a list of Everything wrong with....

I view most movies as entertainment, so if it is not accurate then no big deal really. There are not to many movies that you could not pick apart at
the end of the day.

Let's hear it from the man himself

Clancy wasn't crazy about the movie versions of his books. He complained that Ford was too old to play Jack Ryan, and he regretted the lack of creative control, saying: "Giving your book to Hollywood is like turning your daughter over to a pimp." Father knows best!

Infatuated enough to know her full name?:03:
Do you claim Wesley?:haha:

Captain Obvious says...

We don't need to hunt for RedOctober,
He's in Missoura.:up::O:

Not infatuated at all. The name just sounded wrong to me so I looked it up. Like Susan Alexandra "Sigourney" Weaver. Like Laura McKenzie Phillips. Like Deborah Jo Hunter Tylo. Like Lady Sarah "Lalla" Ward.

I always wondered why the Soviets didn't just deploy a towed sonar array, rather than engage in "Crazy Ivans".
