Some other noob questions about gyroangle, torpedoes and battleships

Hello everybody, I'm pretty new to SH4 but I played SH3 more long time ago. I got U-Boat addon so that is I'm only playing. I am only using Pacific Enviroments Mod (when I get to port I wanna install TMO) and I have some question about many things:

1. How can I get the gyroangle from the american version to U-Boat version?(I like how is showing the position of the sub from the ship I wanna sink when looking thru my periscope)

2. What torpedoes are better to use?

3. The missions from a patrol never ends? I mean I am on my first patrol and I got 261.640 total tonnage sunk until now (tankers 17, cargo 30, warships 7) and I am still receiving missions, patroling and sinking. When can I go to finish my patrol? I mean is there is a point when I will get the mission to get back in port?

4. How can I make my crew to get more experience? With all that tonnage that I sunk my crew got little experience and I think it will take a lot of time for them to get a new rank.

5. Can any of my crew gain a special ability? or I have to recruit one that is having?

6. How can I find those bigs battleships? I wanna try to sink one, good renew points for sinking one. I only finded Attacker Escort Carriers (I got 3 of those to sleep with the fishies), Kent Heavy Cruisers and more little ones.

7. How can I improve my ruler drawings from the navigation map? I am spending at least 10 minutes for drawing that line correct for a good intercept but allways I have to change course in last minute.

That is all for now, I'm sorry if are answers for many of this questions but I didn't finded them. I'm sure there are more noobs like me out there and they will find answers for all this very usefull (for me will sure be) and I hope somebody will find some time to answer to them.

Thank you verry much

Ok it seems nobody got the time to respond on those but I tested lots of them so I just got this remained:

1. How can I get the gyroangle from the american version to U-Boat version?(I like how is showing the position of the sub from the ship I wanna sink when looking thru my periscope)

2. The experience that crew is getting it's the same if I sink a warship or a cargo ship?

3. Can any of my crew gain a special ability? or I have to recruit one that is having?

4. How can I find those bigs battleships? I wanna try to sink one, good renew points for sinking one. I only finded Attacker Escort Carriers (I got 3 of those to sleep with the fishies), Kent Heavy Cruisers and more little ones.

Q1: Not sure what you mean by this...

Q2: If by experience you mean reknown (which you purchase upgrades with in base) then this is tonnage related. Sinking destroyers won't net you much, but sinking battleships will. Just like sinking small merchants wont get you much but sinking T3 Tankers will.
If by experience you mean your crew's experience, then I'm not totally sure if it relates at all to the size of the target sunk, or just the fact you sunk one. Your crew gains experience by being used for their jobs, not just from sinking ships. Experts feel free to jump in here.

Q3: You can purchase crew with special abilities in port, and I have had existing crew develop special abilities on their own, but did not manifest their abilities until I got back to port. Note that special abilites do stack.

Q4: If you are driving a uboat, I find off Fremantle to be really great, seems like endless King George BB's there to sink. Not every convoy there has them, but a lot do.

About Q1, when you are playing american campaign, and looking thru periscope from an american sub, you can see on the left there a window where you see how is your sub positioned against the target, and, a little below on the same window you can switch to torpeodoes speed and how deep they will travel. On the u-boat I have to switch to attack map first and and after I can set the speed and how deep they will travel (it's much more simple with american version).
Q2: Oky then I will try to sink biggest ships
Q3: It is random or after a specified rank?
Q4: I searched a lot for them but I rly couldn't find any. Is there a specific place where they can be found?

Ty a lot for the answers

Q1: I understand now, and am sorry to say I cannot help you with this. I suspect it would be a huge job modding the graphics over and probably a lot of editing in the menu_1024.ini file, if it is even possible, due to the differences in how the US and German TDC work.

Q3: Only your officers can get a chance to gain a random special ability. I'm not sure if there is a minimum officer rank tho, or what other criteria might be involved. I had a guy get the Sharpshooter ability, and he never had anything to do with the deck gun in any previous patrols. He is currently rank 9. All my other officers with abilities I purchased, and they were all rank 10 to start with.

Q4: My campaign is in 1943, and I roam all over the Indian Ocean. There are TF's that come through the Maldives (just south of India), convoys that seem to come from Capetown South Africa. I guess if I had to pick a grid it would be KV east of Fremantle, you should get TF contact reports all over. Tho with the amount of TF reports I get i dunno how you can not find any??? Try staying 1500km west of Fremantle for a week or so, you should start getting TF reports. A lot of TF's seem to start and end in Fremantle. Once you get a TF report you do have to be pretty quick to plot an intercept due to the speed they travel, and hey do change directions also.

I found them and sink them, thanks for all your help. Do you know other places where I can find some other big battleships?

OK, I understand Q1 (I was slow on that one)

You want to adjust the TDC while using the periscope! What you propose is not appropriate. Those gauges are United States property and contain the top secret position keeper, which will never be in a U-Boat. Transplanting them would earn the modder an execution for treason.

However, in SH3, there is a fabulous tool, reproducing actual German devices, called the OLC GUI. It brings up actual German TDC panels while in periscope view. It also features a really cool whiz-bang trigonometric calculator to calculate AoB ising the aspect ratio method in seconds! It's authentic! It's absolutely ingenius! It's ultra-cool!

We want OLC GUI!
