Chinese hacking of Navy contractor

This is very concerning. Even more so that some dumb asses have tried to pass it off as "unclassified" data. Really?

China has stolen sensitive data related to naval warfare from the computers of a Navy contractor, American officials said on Friday, in another step in the long-running cyberwar between two global adversaries.

The breach occurred this year, the officials said, when Chinese government hackers infiltrated the computers of a company working on a Navy submarine and underwater programs contract. The company, which was not identified, was doing work for the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, which is based in Newport, R.I.

Officials said that the data gleaned by China was unclassified.

The WP article on the frontpage here was at least somewhat more truthful.

I saw that and wondered what the heck is going on ... very sensitive information indeed. Can the US military keep any secrets?

Plus we borrow money from them and the interest is used to hack us with. This would cause a war with most countries, but not ours ... instead Trump wants to keep doing business with China (a cell phone mfg no less) by just giving them a fine of a billion dollars for breaking US laws.

I've come to the conclusion that all we can do is be upset or let it go. It is so hard to let this kind of espionage go. :yep:

:haha:
Remember, China is no opponent or enemy. Its a partner. :yeah: There are no conficts, there are just disagreements amongst friends. There are no culture clashes, just various different truths.

Unfortunately, our government has been a little slow in understanding the importance of protecting our unclassified data systems.

Also been a little slow in educating people that unclassified information can still be sensitive and needs to be protected.

Yes, China is a partner and a very sneaky one. We all know that chinese economy is one of the biggest in the world. This gives the opportunity to play bigger role into economies of other countries. Chinese businessmen are looking for the investment programs around the world and they are buying the real estate - Greece, US, other countries -
"According to CBS News, over 100,000 Chinese nationals have spent about $24 billion to obtain residence permits in the past decade. They prefer to migrate to developed countries, the most popular of which is the US. About 40,000 Chinese nationals have participated in the US residence-for-investment programme, putting over $7.7 billion into the country's economy."

I think that this thing might be a part of the bigger plan of the chinese government - the plan that includes this stolen Naval data (but maybe i'm a paranoid
