Sonar Contacts Can't Be Picked Up?

I've been having this weird issue when fighting against really quiet subs. When I pull out my starboard towed array. I see a very faint line of my target. It's visible but when I try to mark the target. Nothing happens.

I went to Narrowband to see if what I was facing was not some glitch showing me something wrong but I find in the narrowband display that it lists the sub. I should iterate that I was doing a Seawolf versus a 688(I) in a custom mission (They were on separate sides) so I dunno if that's an issue.

Several and subsequent mouse clicks on "Designate Target" button may yield a positive result or else sometimes I activate Autocrew just to make marks and then proceed on my own.
I hope that this is what you are asking about.

With towed arrays always rule out that is isn't a mirror contact. Make a turn and verify if doesn't shift by twice of the turn angle. Or if you have enough free trackers and lack of time, mark the signal on the mirror side of the towed array also. The TMA autocrew knows which is a fake. (through their divine link with Almighty Neptune)

Second, really faint contact may indeed require multiple lucky draws pressing the track button. And on the slower time frame views it might not yet detect anything even if it is a true signal. It's simply too faint to trigger the detection level.
