Where are the locations for the battles? (RSRD?)

Using TMO and RSRD, I remember being able to find huge historical battles.

but would like to know real locations :)

You can find the locations in the history books as well as the date/time they occurred.

Search online for maps. More than just trying to find where the historical battle took place, RSRD does a great job starting groups from the right port or locations, so you may decide to attack at a better ambush spot.

If you'll let me know the base, month and year, I'll be glad to get you close to some action.

If its the top map you want, I think this little download could be helpful.

excellent, did not know about that download, I really can not remember where I got the top map from:hmmm:. Probably from a web page that I discovered at some time.:06:

Do I install that with generic mod enabler ?

Armistead 02-20-13 10:38 AM

Someone made a convoy map mod for TMO RSRD, I would use that.

You can also start at Wikipedia. Some of the battles are very well documented, including date/time as well as long/lat. If you don't know the name of the battle, search the island or island group for a good start. You can use 'Battle of Coral Sea', or just 'Guadalcanal', as a for instance.

Saves a lot of trips to the library or Amazon.com, and its a lot faster.

I'm not sure how RSRDC handles fleet positions. In other words, do the fleets start at their actual starting ports, and sail all the way to the battle, or do they suddenly 'appear' at the battle position at the correct time/date. If the latter, they won't show up if you are closer than about 20 miles to the battle location when they are supposed to generate.

I have been 'involved' with both Midway and the Battle of Tassafaronga (part of the Guadalcanal Campaign). Very exciting! I even sank a 'wounded' light cruiser at Tassafaronga (and lived through an eight hour depth charging for my trouble).

Good hunting!

Good hunting!

The fleets do start at port and sail to the battle and return to port in the majority of cases.
