Hearts of Oak

There's a pirate new game on the horizon: Hearts of Oak! It comes from the developers of some of the most popular mods about pirates: Pirates of the Caribbean: New Horizons and Age of Pirates 2: Gentlemen of Fortune.

What's it all about:
- Our main goal is to create a perfect Age of Sail simulator in which you not only taking command of the ship but also play your character in good ol' RPG style and take command of your crew.
- We want to create a realistic sailing simulator with player being able to make certain things be done by his officers
- Right now we focus on the Caribbean in the 1700-1800 period but it is likely that there will be expansions with other periods and even other regions (like Europe)
- You'll have full, sandbox style freedom to do anything you want with no restrictions from some pre-written story. Your write the story of your own!
- You'll have the ability to choose from many different ships and navies or become a pirate
- The game is using Unreal Engine 3 used in games such as Mass Effect (every part), Gears of War, BioShock Infinite or Borderlands.

We are a team of volunteers, and due to the scale of this project, the game will take many months to develop. We will be releasing tech demos, alpha and beta versions over the coming months, but please be patient and have faith in our dev team. This is our dream game concept, and we are determined to make it a reality!

We need you!

Our dev team is in need for programmers familiar with UnrealScript or willing to learn it (and having the basic knowledge to do so). We accept every help from 3D and 2D modelers and from anybody who wants to contribute in other ways. If you are interested, simply write on our forum. Also, spread the word, if you know anybody who can help us, please tell him about us. Together we can create the best sailing game ever!
