LinuxSSN Lives!!

Hey guys,

I put out a small update to the OpenGL version of LinuxSSN. Mostly, just bug fixes, but it compiles again. It's the first update in years, but I'm back to having a little spare time to devote to the project.

Hello gang. I don't post a lot anymore but here's a screenshot of the periscope station. I snapped this on my iPhone so it's not the best quality. Michael, the other coder of LinuxSSN lost interest in the project years ago, so I keep plugging away when I can.

Thanks! :subsim: Also, the LinuxSSN project on source forge is really outdated, but I am starting a github and will eventually be uploading the code there in case there is any interest.

I recognise that merchant ship in the periscope :)

Good to see it back. Alas I'm not making models any more. Don't have time and besides I don't think 3DS Max version 4.0 will run on my new laptop.

Models

LOL, it's good to hear from XabbaRus! Your models were always the best. I don't get enough time to code for fun either anymore.

Currently, the current 3D graphics code was written by me in OpenGL. However, OpenGL has changed so much in the last 10 years and I haven't really had time to learn or keep up with the new stuff. I have thought several times of using switching over everything to OGRE3D or even Unity3D.

I may never finish LinuxSSN. I have come to terms with that over the years. Only a few people understand the complexity of designing such a game and the various skills you have to develop. Maybe one day I will retire and then I will have time to finish it.

The source would be greatly appreciated even it it doesnt get used or re-adopted it any way just to see how things are done from another point of view, especially hardcoded verus lots of visual scripting.
