[REL] Sub Pinups & Pics
 

These are files that replace the submarine interior art pinup used in various places, and the two soldier photographs visible in the control room. It's intended to be used with my SH4 Randomizer program so you can have a new set of images whenever you want.

The images are resized and cropped to fit in the allotted space of a copy of Salmon_Int_02.dds, used as a base image. Unless otherwise noted, there is one art pinup, and two photos used in each file. Each set up to #13 contains 32 files. Starting at #14 they contain 35 files. Some images may be post-war. You can use the included thumbnail file to see which images are in each file, especially if you don't have a DDS viewer.

I created this because I was tired of seeing the same images all the time in the subs. Compounding the issue is the fact that all the sub classes in the game, as well as those added by other mods, use one of only three files. These are:


Gato_Int_02.dds = Balao, Gar, Gato, Tambor, and the Tench added by RFB, RSRDC, and TMO

Porp_Int_02.dds = Porpoise, and the Psuedo-Narwhal added by RFB, RSRDC, and TMO

Salmon_Int_02.dds = Salmon, Sargo, and the Subsim Narwhal mod


Note that while the S class does have a separate file in the game, the pinup and photos are not used in that sub.

To install, just extract directly into the "Sub Pinup and Pics" folder created by the SH4 Randomizer. Then run the SH4 Randomizer program to select which sub class to use. To use the files without the randomizer program, you'll need to pick which one(s) you want to use, rename to the appropriate filename, then copy/move to the "Data\Textures\TNormal\tex" folder.

SPECIAL NOTE: This mod is ONLY intended to be used if you have "Texture Quality High" checked in the "Options\Graphic Settings" of the game. If this is not checked, you will not see the new images when playing. I chose to do a high resolution only version because it's what the overwhelming majority of players use, and thus not worth the hassle to try to include two versions. Especially since the low res game uses not one, but TWO files. If you want to use the files on a low res setting, you'll need to reduce the image size by half, and save with the appropriate filenames (Gato_Int_02.dds and Gato_Int_02_lr.dds for example) in the "Data\Textures\TLowRes\tex" folder.

It should also be noted that while there are two photos, only subs using the Gato file show both completely. The Porpoise only uses one photo in the control room, while the Salmon uses both, but one is partially obstructed.

You will note this is a set of nude images. This type of image was in fact the genesis for creating these mods in the first place. While acquiring the pics for my Sub Images mod, the site where I found them also had a topless art pic that was displayed in one sub. It occurred to me then that there were probably pics on-board most subs that were far more adult in nature than the game gives us. So I figured out how to change the images in order to eventually use these types of pics.

While I've chosen not to use the more blatantly pornographic type of pictures, be aware that some of these images do, and will in the future, feature full frontal nudity. Use at your own discretion.

From now on I will alternate between non-nudes and nudes in future sets.
