Okay third night same problem. I uploaded Gaggle to Haggle With.7z to the WIP folder and I'd appreciate it if someone could check it out and let me know where I've screwed up. Yikes! It's the simplest possible mission.......:wah:

I *think* I'm making some headway with the sound issue... maybe. Looking in the "stock" versions, whether 1.4 or 1.5, the sounds that I've looked into thus far have all been 44.1kHz, 16-bit files, whether in mono or stereo. Some of the sounds of the "outside" world are in stereo, as are the "creak" sounds. When I look at some of the files in FotRS - 1.2, 1.3, & 2.0 - they are a mix of 3 different sample rates, whether 14k, 22k or 44.1k. All have been 16-bit thus far. For the most part, Windows doesn't care about this, but some set-ups do. Anyone who gets "The Sound" while playing, if you could try to find out what the audio plays over in your computer, whether a "professional" card, a SoundBlaster, onboard, whatever, please mention that. I've uploaded an mp4 (yes, movie file) to Photobucket, since I didn't want to mess with MediaFire and others of that ilk (tho photobucket has gotten weird the last few years), and I can't figure out how to either upload or share with the FOTRS Ultimate Google Drive page. "See" the link below:

The Sound (mp4 file)

Don't click on anything on their site. Trash. You might also get a strange pop-up that goes "through" my "Popup Stopper"... There's several pauses in the file, as I do TC to see if it would go away... not a chance. You can click around and explore in there, if you're familiar with Photobucket. Some of the other screen grabs are in a couple other folders.

I'm posting while you are, but "yes", I just downloaded it... Is it supposed to work though?...

Edit Again: It doesn't show up in the Single Mission list, though it looks like everything copied over just fine with your rar...

Edit Again again...: Folder name versus mis file name... Remove the "Rockin Robbins" part from the folder name, as much as you might like that moniker... Else, add it to the mis file and tsr file names... ?? 'Course, I still can't find the convoy, so I don't know if any of the times/dates matter the way they are, or I'm just goofy and losing it (don't answer that)? How 'bout the Tactical Properties? :ping:

I was gong to mention something else, but my brain is mush (not the Morton variety) from all the digging I've done today... and I seem to have misplaced the thought. Maybe tomorrow... :88)

Edit #4: Wow! {Günther Hessler - Sounds borrowed from his "ultimate sound" mod pack} and {AOTD|Rhonen - New Sinking Mechanics}, both listed in the ReadMe for FotRS... Back to the "Search" one more time...

I'll look at it tomorrow.....you'll probably figure it out by then anyway. I'm only about half with it due to a rotator cuff repair two days ago. Not so much pain as last night (the first night was a breeze with the anesthesia still working). Should be able to hold a mouse tomorrow.

Oooh, ooh ooh!

I'm playing Blue's Clues here: "A clue! A clue!" I found this here:
-[REL]- ---} Ultimate SoundMod {---

For this one, I needed to "translate", such as it is, but the last post has it:
AOTD DE

I do have to give up for the night tho... Can't do the all-nighters like I used to. |;^)

Pretty simple. You named the mission folder "RockinRobbin Gaggle to Haggle With"

Mission file was named "Gaggle to Haggle With"

I renamed the Mission folder by removing the RockinRobbin and leaving the "Gaggle to Haggle With" matching the Mission file. I then copied and pasted the renamed Mission folder into the SingleMission folder and the mission worked fine. :salute:

Yep, that's what I noticed too.

To make the .mis file JSGME compatible, make a folder named "RockinRobbin Gaggle to Haggle With".......might as well make it in the JSGME "MODS" folder since that's where it's going anyway.
Next, make a folder inside it named "Data".
Next make a folder named "SingleMissions" inside the "Data" folder.
Change the name of the "RockinRobbin Gaggle to Haggle With" folder to "Gaggle to Haggle With" and put it inside the "SingleMissions" folder (good work cdrsubron7 in finding this....looks like someone read my reply). :88)

Folder/File structure should look like this:
MODS/RockinRobbin Gaggle to Haggle With/Data/SingleMissions/Gaggle to Haggle With/Gaggle to Haggle With.mis AND Gaggle to Haggle With.tsr

Let's get to haggling over the gaggle of ships you've finagled!!

When searching for the ominous tone You can indeed times the sound compilation of my ModSoup try for fun, there are no such problems.

http://workupload.com/file/pJA5GsK

If so in FORTS also should occur the same problem, it is definitely not the sound itself ... the disturbing sound is then likely linked wrong in another file.

Thanks for that Bleiente. Downloaded and comparing the files now... They don't have that incessant "We HIT her! We HIT her!" do they... |;^)

As for a cursory glance at the audio, the "Submarine_CrashDive_Init.wav file most likely isn't the culprit, unless it is a "length" thing, because the "stock" version is used in FotRS v2, from what I can tell... I do like that version in the TMO-RSRDC-OTC sound mod, and that does sound like the bell, maybe. Fourteen seconds long, versus the two seconds of "stock"... I guess I'll go back to trying to find something in the config files for what "calls" audio or restores it after TC 32x and above is used...

---------------------------------------
Edit: Notice, just preliminary findings, but using the "Ralles SoundPack for TMO_RSRDC_OTC" mod in place of the FotRS v2 sounds, two Single Mission files now, going to 300+ depth and return, TC 32x plus, up to 264x, and back to 1x, no "The Sound"... Like I say, "preliminary". I'm *really* curious now, other than the "CrashDive" file, what's different between the two mods' files? Maybe I'll cut me a few seconds off of the crash dive sound in v2 and see what it sounds like, if I get "The Sound". More testing definitely called for, and - much as I dislike the task - try to re-create "The Sound"...

One of the things about several of these sound mods, is that while the explosions are super-cool sounding, they don't last long enough, and/or cut-off too soon, without a "fade-out" curve to ease your ears back into the relative "quiet" of the sub "ambiance", if you will. In other words, you hear the "hiss" of the sound file's background, then it's cut-off and gone. I might experiment with that too...

Yeah, surgery is so great. You have the surgery and while you're feeling no pain because of the drugs everybody in the universe calls and offers their support.

After the drugs wear off and you're really in pain they all say "I've done my bit!" and you get to suffer alone.:haha::haha: Well, you have to laugh or you'd have to cry. Hope you mend quickly and the surgery is worth it in the end. It sure isn't any bargain right now, is it?

Yup, you two guys have nailed it for sure. TOLD you it was a stupid mistake....

As far as the sounds, since we want to keep the core mod pure Maddy if we can, how about we just change all the sounds in FOTRS 2.0 to 44.1kHz, 16-bit files with Audacity. Then we make JSGME versions of the other sound schemes as plugins. My personal greatest wished for sound change, "Rudder amidships." That alone would get my vote for "mod of the millenium." I've heard "rudder......rudder" WAY TOO MANY TIMES.

That's right - in the game you not hear it, since then other sounds are still activated.

How true...

My sincere wishes for a fast and effective recovery Captain.

Thanks guys for the get well wishes!! Things seem to be getting better daily.

I took a look at the "Gaggle to Haggle With" mission. It seems the mission ships are just as neurotic as what was seen before. Their a mess in less than half an hour! I looked at some of the stock game .mis files and found they usually have the "Spacing" at 700 meters. The Gaggle .mis has them at 500 meters. I changed this figure with no difference in ship activity....they still become just as scattered as before. One merchant even ran up behind the lead Escort bumping it in the rear. The "jack rabbit" ability came in handy this time!!

I don't know if there's something in the Random Group that's causing this or not. It's definitely not from the sub being detected. I'm thinking this test mission isn't going to help us decide what's a good stock ship behavior when in a convoy with reactions like the ones I've seen.
