Check your GPU and see what version is installed.
Post #239 Changing The Nvidia GPU Settings

From your documents sometimes just changing the cfg main file synchronized setting will get your game up and running again.

Good grief Berbster, you have been busy!!!

History. Ran various scenarios incl compatibility. Nothing. Took it out and turned pc off. It also refused to recognise mods (?) when I tried JSGME.

Rebooted and installed SH4 and mods and still nothing.....

ran compat and asked for recommended settings, which it set at Vista. This time game loaded and ran but one save, last save, was corrupted. Not fussed about that.

Q: can anyone remind me how to remove those enormous darn anchors on the map.

I'll check your solutions shortly and see what says what.

Edit: Did display tweak, only one thing, changed display to gpu. Everything else on the screen was already set as per your details graphics.

I usually have that automatic update turned off its a pain esp when you are playing a game !!

Red Devil 10-14-17 05:06 PM

Normally not a problem. I actually stopped everything returning to desktop then allowed upgrade. I didnt realise it was such a big job!!

Hi RD
Windows 10 and SH4 is not a problem and should not need a compaibility mode.
Running applications as administrator makes a difference when loading.
Another option is to look at the SH4,exe properties and go to the compatibility tab and tick the box to override High DPI scaling behavior.
This option may or may not make a difference but it is worth testing.

Saved games should always be made manually and not overwriting the automatic ones.
I have never had a corrupted save game with SH4 to date.

As I previous stated it is important to install LAA as it uses your free ram as long as you have a certain amount free.

DO NOT have GU.exe running from the SH4 icon. Change the shortcut to run SH4.exe and delete the cursed GU.exe from your machine. It causes tons of problems, never worked right and the game updates it was supposed to download don't and never will exist.

Red Devil 10-15-17 09:25 AM

When installed, I select the exe SH4 icon and post it to the desktop, I then change its name to SH4. I have never used a GU.exe programme. I'n not even sure what it is, but never used.

Administrators. As the owner and one of 3 users, we are all administrators and have had problems with Microsofts Freelancer in the past, using a massive rewrite mod (Discovery 4.85) which I needed to run as administrator (ticked)in properties. This actually came up and said 'run as administrator', which fooled me for months before I found the unticked box in properties!!!

I have never had to do this in SH4 though, but have ticked the box. And had a box open, did this run properly, I said yes.
