Unfortunately there will almost certainly be no more revisions to SH3C. JScones' last post was in this thread three years ago, and has moved on to other things. This version is it.

My patrol logs are not being updated with real ship names despite having the correct option ticked, updating personnel file after each patrol, and having the updated ship names file Sailor Steve makes.

All ship sunk so far are from Merchant Fleet Mod but I confirmed that each of them has a block of names in the ship names file I updated.

I searched this thread to no avail. I don't know why I'm not getting my ship names updated. I am almost certain I'm following the right procedure.

Hello I just recently installed this and started a new career in 1939. Completed the first shakedown patrol. I am reading about how you can assign qualifications to anyone and everyone but I can't assign a qualification to anyone in the shc3 program. I click on the qualifications symbols to try to drag them to the applicable people but it won't let me. Is there something I'm missing here?

Please help. Thanks.

Never mind it just seemed I just had to get used to the interface. However, do people go all out assigning quals. right away? Is there some kind of limit?

The stock game only lets you assign one per patrol. With Commander you can assign all you want. I usually do a quick turnaround in the harbor for my first patrol, then assign one to everybody. In real life all petty officers are trained for a certain job and on submarines are crosstrained for others. Even non-POs are usually assigned to one job, and after passing the exams will become a PO with that qualification.

Posted this in the Hsie/stiebler realism patch thread as well but since it probably had something to do with SH3 commander as well I thought I would post it here as well:

After loading SH3 commander, I have found that the realistic torpedo reloading limits of the Hsie/stiebler realism patch (ie, no reloading if wind speed is above 7 m/s so you have to dive to reload) seem to have been "invalidated" by sh3 commander. I was reloading at 10 m/s and also able use the deck gun at about 8m/s. Anyone know why this might have happened and what need to change?

Hi suitednate,

this depends on the "StormCondition" which is writen in the "NSS_UboatName.cfg" (folder "Submarine/NSS_UboatName"). The values can be different from (Uboat) type to type. SH3_Cmdr do not chnge these values - except you chnged the "Randomised events. cfg" of SH3_Cmdr.

So you are saying is was a randomized event that I was actually able to reload in this particular instance when normally I wouldn't be able to?

Hi suitednate,

that seems to be a little misunderstanding. SH3_Cmdr don't change the "StormConditions", but it is easy to do it within the "Randomise events.cfg". So i can't know if you changed something or not. That is the meaning of my answer above (second part).

Been encountering a bit of a problem with SH Commander. Would be awesome if anyone could weigh in on it

Basically, I have recently added/removed mods. Before I did any of this I made sure to rollback SH3 Commander.

Now I am trying to start a new career. Before I go any further, some observations:

The flotilla options are:
1). 1st Flotilla
2). 2nd Flotilla
3). 7th/13th Flotilla

I click the check mark and SH3 Commander boots up SH3. I exit the game and now the flotilla options are:

1). U Flotilla Weddigen
2). U Flotilla Saltzwedel
3). U Flotilla Wegener

Okay, now I select RN and make a random U boat captain name. Lets say I choose some month and year. Click the check mark and it boots up SH3. I click career now in SH3, find the name I just randomized in SH3 Commander, and click play. Now here is a problem!

The names of the flotilla are not changed to match the new ones. They are still listed as 1,2, and 7/13 flotillas :hmmm:

I click the corresponding flotilla anyway, (If I picked Saltzwedel I click 2nd flotilla) and start mission. Just before it finishes loading the red bar I consistently get CTD.

However, if I boot up the game, create the profile IN SH3 and NOT in SH3 commander interface, the flotilla names are correctly changed and I can start the career without a CTD.

Strange behavior, no idea what is causing it.

Thank you for the suggestion. Is this the patch for GWX3 compatibility?

If so I have already installed it.

Any other ideas what might be causing this?
