TaskForce/Convoy Attacks Pre-1944 Advice Please

Calling All Kaulins.......

I seek advice on approach to convoys in April 1944....
Have finally been granted the XXI,with Bells,Whistle's.

With the torpedo FAT II " Electric" Do I select the ship, then the pattern run in front of the boat or behind?

I not used these pattern torpedos, as I like the TIIIe very reliable, HOWEVER..... in 1944 the Destroyers pick me up much earlier on approaches and even at 180m,and wont leave after hours of hammering.
Was that the way of it in WWII

TII - behind. You probably won't need the zigzag anyways, most likely the TII will just home in right away. They are deadly.

And so were the WWII destroyers. They might have stayed there for 24 hours or even longer. At the end of the war there were destroyers as close escorts and as hunter killer groups. The hunter killer groups were not tied to the close escort duty, but could do what was needed to kill the U-boat they were after.

Do u think its better to keep doing that or attack from further out?

Yep Ill stick with the TII torpedo..
Interesting about the destroyers staying back that long, seems they have endless D/C and H/H....
Ah while I remember, im running GWX.3.0, without " late war sensor snorkel mod " and my XXI snorkel has no warning when I'm using it spite the upgrade menu saying its pre-fitted. I only have warning when on the surface.... Any ideas dude?

Plenty of excitement and suspense using that method but as the war progresses you will be forced to attack from further away.

Check out the GWX manual (link available from above my sig) to get some tips.
