Well Sky, I just ordered the sim,lol Got an email from esims, they were ready to ship it, but they just made the new DVD just before Christmas, and wanted to know if I wanted the current DVD or wait until they can ship the new one. I'm waiting for the new one, takes too long for me on dsl to download 2 GB.

I wanted to ask you, are there many Desert Storm missions with the original game? I found the "Thunder run" mission on the website, that's the one I really want to try!:D

Skybird 12-28-14 12:18 PM

Ouh - I cannot tell. Just today I have downloaded the new files, and I have not installed them so far. TBH, this year was an Asserto Corsa year, I did not roll a single tank all time long... But there always should be the battle of 73 Easting, I think...

Check the download section of the eSim board, there currently are over 300 SP and almost 300 MP scenarios. Focus on the new ones, the older ones often are not adapted to the 3.0 edition of SBP and need manual tweaks.

Sorry for being late, i did not note your post.

P.S. Its a good idea anyway to familiarise yourself with the mission editor and the in-mission mission planner from very early on, since both interfaces are very similiar. The fist benefits you for adapting scenarios easily to your likings and needs, the second benefits you by understanding how to implement proper mission planning. And for a start, after you checked all what is in there: focus on one tank of your choice and familiarise yourself with it in depth, then master tatcics and formation amanagement . And not before then start to play with a multitude of different vehicles. Some tanks and IFVs have VERY different operation procedures, especially for the gunner.

P.P.S. And start to train using the auxiliary sight from early on. You'll need it, promised. Thermal and laser is all nice and well - and usually the first two items breaking when taking fire. :)

Thanks for the tip Sky! Now if the company making the new dvd's would just hurry up and get them to esim, I'd get my copy and start blowing things up!:)
Besides myself, that is!:D

Best ask in their forum on the timetable for the production of new DVDs. I have no clue.

I ordered a new hardware copy of the 3.0 manual for myself yesterday. Manual is almost twice as thick now as the ones I know from years ago.

eddie 01-06-15 04:45 PM

I ordered the manual too, they are sending it out to me first, then the dvd. So, I have some reading to do, sounds like a lot of it too!

Skybird 01-06-15 05:39 PM

Not so much, but there is a good amount of keyboard commands. Do they send the dongle with the manual? Then you could slowly download the sim and get started earlier. If you have a HOTAS combo - I use mine for mappoing essential commands to it in SBP, too.

eddie 01-06-15 09:46 PM

Yes, the manual and the dongle are coming first. The new update came out just after I ordered it. They gave me a choice, so I'll wait a bit to for the dvd. I'm on dsl, so it takes me quite a long time to download large files. Just like what Hunter goes through, lol

I have DSL (3000) myself. 2.4 GB is not that big problem.

You should by now already have your order as far as it is available, me thinks. In the past I got my deliveries from eSim in the US within less than a full week. And the place I live in has "Germany" written over it. You even live in the US.

At least as long as they have not had declared holidays shutdown. If you do not have it by the end of the week, I would give them a mail/forum question. If needed I could also give you access to the manual via dropbox. It also comes as pdf with the download.

Thanks Sky for the offer! Still have a few days before I check with them by email. I have a friend in Germany who designs models for FSX, Mathias Pommerien. He lives in Uelzen, his website is called Classics Hanger. He designed the Me-108 and did the complete series of the Fw190 including the Doras and 152's. He's going to do the Bf110's at some point.
:)

I had beta tested for him for models in CFS3, including testing for the med War mod, was fun too! He is a great designer and has an eye for great detail.

You got a PM. ;) Time to get some reading done...

eddie 01-08-15 02:32 PM

OK, thanks Sky! Off to do some reading!

ReallyDedPoet 01-08-15 02:41 PM

Looks like a great sim :yep:

A bit pricy, but for what you get it seems to be worth it then some.
