Mod Comparisons

Hi all,

I was looking at the different mods, mainly LWAMI, RA and Alpha Tau. Can someone explain the difference between the 3? I see that the RA and Alpha Tau author is the same. Is Alpha Tau an extension of RA?

I'm afraid you've been misinformed (where did you read that?). AT is a project created by a group based in Italy, and RA comes out of Russia. They are competing mods which are not generally compatible with each other. However, MilSab, a French project, is a mod which is dependent on RA being installed first. LWAMI, I believe, is a multi-national effort, but predominatly developed by Americans. It's somewhat compatible with some other mods via JSGME.

RA and AT are the two mods which make the biggest changes to gameplay by expanding the amount of playable platforms, and introducing additional weapons (like nukes). LWAMI concentrates more on realism and improved models. Milsab adds LWAMI-like changes to RA with more of a focus on French vessels.

RA is in the most active development, with releases and fixes being released throughout the year. Milsab often follows a major release with one of their own. LWAMI is less frequently updated, but is more stable when it is, with few, if any, fixes to follow. AT is in a dormant stage, although a new version is promised.

Thank you!

I saw that the Alpha Tau discussion was started by XabbaRus so I figured he was the mod leader for AT.

Where is the download link for RA?

Theta Sigma 07-13-12 06:40 AM

Well, I guess that means I created MilSab. ;)

Click the RA link above to get to the RA download.

Thanks for the speedy replies!

For some reason the D/L links on the page you supplied aren't working.

Theta Sigma 07-13-12 06:50 AM

Then try here:

Krauter 07-13-12 06:56 AM

I am trying that also. All its doing is constantly trying to download Yandeks.msi?

Krauter 07-13-12 07:03 AM

Never mind, stupid Google Translate was getting rid of the link.

Krauter 07-13-12 07:29 AM

Ok, got everything downloaded. now do I just unpack each part seperately into my Dangerous Waters Folder?

Edit: Just unpacked pt1 and it's automatically unpacking Pt02,03 and 04. Will let you know if it works.

Got it running! Can't believe how much is added. Now it's off to work, then back here to test it out. Thanks!

I just got RA mod

The latest download is at http://ra-dwx.narod.ru/ And come with some documentation. They call it an expansion and that is good. Use Google engine and google translate for the webpage.

Do any mods make the November class playable or make a surface ship have surface to surface missiles (e.g. the Udaloy in RA only has the Silex... and it isn't currently usable against ships).

Red_88 04-30-15 12:30 PM

At present there is no playable November Class Submarine.

But the SS-N14 Silex can be used as a ASM (surface to surface). Be sure to have the latest RA Mod installed. For Usage refer to Manual "RA_Weapon_Info_ref34.pdf". You can find it in the Manual folder when you have installed the RA_Mod.

Happy Hunting!

Got it! Thanks. The fact that you can launch them from both silos simultaneously also helps compensate a bit for the fact that they are subsonic. I've taken out a couple missile boats so far!
