No mods, just v1.5? but you added your own mp3 files for the grammaphone?

Check your volume sliders. I'm wondering if the Voice option might be off/low.

Yes, all 23 or so posts. You may just need to run the compatibility program .... or do a re-install. Don't let Steam install it to Program Files or Program (86) Files if you can help it. I suppose if you can't avoid it you probably could make a C:\Games folder and drag/ Copy!! the entire Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific install with the UBoat add-on to the new C:\Games folder and play this Copy instead of the Install in one of the Program Files folder as CS mentioned in the Tutorial. Be sure your SH4 shortcut points to the sh4.exe in the C:\Games\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific location.

I don't use Steam but I know SH4 shouldn't be in any of the Program Files folders... especially if you want to use LAA, JSGME, or any mods. I read that Win 10 is a memory hog so SH4 really does need the 4 GB patch or LAA.

I wish there was a Win 10 SH4 Steam install Tutorial... or someone who does use Steam would chime in with what they did.

I tried to post yesterday, and my ISP dropped me in the middle of it, but what aanker says about the install folder with Steam is really important. Steam changed their "security" though, and you usually can't just copy and move their games anymore. What you have to do now is use the Steam app on your computer, log-in to it, and then create a Library Folder on a different hard drive from the main Steam folder. So I've got "C:\Program Files (x86) \Steam...", and a Library Folder of "D:\Games \Steam \Silent Hunter x\" (both SH3 & SH5 of mine are Steam). If you don't have a 2nd hard drive, that makes it a bit tough, but if you don't have too many games, you can un-install Steam, then re-install it in a different folder and be OK... Between that and maybe a corrupt install to begin with, or maybe if you used Steam's "Verify" on the game... that could warp what you had to the point of it not working correctly... - but there's not too many things that can cause your symptoms. Old Saved Game used, Steam SH4 in the Program Files directory, a bad install, bad Game Sound Settings, bad Windows Sound settings, or hardware failure - but you've got some sounds, right?... ?? :salute:

I'm glad it was something easy. GoldWave is great.

Happy Hunting!

Was it "mixed sample rates", Lt commander lare, or bit-depth? Windows XP didn't care, but starting with Vista, Windows and its DRM "lock" the audio stream, such that if you have an older game that didn't re-sample audio and left it to Windows, it would all work only if all the audio was of the same sample rate and bit-depth, such as 44.1kHz @ 16-bits, and if you had the computer set to that same rate. That kind of stuff gets real frustrating if you're going from Games at 44.1kHz to a movie at 48kHz, and you're using older software (like SH4)...

yes thats what it was i have since corrected the files and Just completed my 1st war patrol.
