I've got 2x FPS when attacking a convoy (that's the "strain test" right? :yep:) and i have one screen to show the "weird" thing (pm'd it to you).

system:
processor: Athlon AMD 2.2ghz
2gb ram
Geforce 6600 GT (256mb)

I'm not sure how to post screenshots, i've read how a long time ago but have completely forgotten. But here's my experience:
I put your mod overtop OLCE2 environment and his GUI and it runs ok but i'm not sure if there's any adverse effects I am not aware of.

Specs:
MS Windows XP SP3
256MB ATI Radeon HD2400Pro graphics card
3GB DDR2 memory
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+

For this test i used 2x anti-aliasing and 4x anistrophic filtering but I think i'll try again soon with less anistrophic because it seems to slow my fps down.
In the command room: 45-55fps
On the bridge: 20-30 fps.

This seems somewhat low compared to other peoples tests but it still seems relatively smooth to me when I'm playing. I've also noticed that fps drops when looking towards the sun and there's lots of sun reflection on the water. But this should be expected I suppose.

Also here are all the mods I have running. The top of the list starts with the first ones loaded on, and the last ends with the most recent loaded. And please tell me if i have several mods that should not be running together at the same time, or that are pointless to have running simultaneously:

GWX 2.1
SH3 Commander 3.1.3.185

Torpedo Damage Final ver2.0
Ice Age
GWX - Main Movie - 'Das Boot'
GWX - Merged Campaign
GWX 2.1 sil tga fixes
Thomsen's Sound Pack V3
PT_SoundPack_V3.1
PT_SoundPack_V3.2
GWX Late War Sensors Snorkel Antennas
OLCE2
Officer Faces 2
Lifeboats&Debris_v3B
GWX_ships_Buoyance&draught_mod
OLCE2 - Adjusted GWX 2.1 Crew Skins
WBNN Messages
OLC GUI Special
OLCE2 Adjusted GWX 2.1 Normal Particles (with reflections)
Crash Dive 40 Metres!
Contact Fix
RealWeatherFixMod
interior diving angles
LRT v2.02 Final
SB_cameras_mod_SH3
Intro Music - Das Boot Theme
GWX 2.1 fix patch LRT 2.02
OLCU Special GUI LRT 2.02 Final patch
SB & LRT 2.02 & OLC GUI Special
Grey U-Marker
New Icons 153281
Ultimate Aircraft Soundmod
Reworked GWX SH.sdl file for Ultimate Aircraft Soundmod
Thomson's Environment v1.0
GWX - Captain America's Officer Icons

I have written the entire modlist letter for letter so there should be no spelling errors. I realize that New Icons (officer faces in crew management) overwrites Officer Faces 2 but i've been too lazy lately to take out the ones i don't need because then i have to re-arrange the entire list, and in the case of OLC mods, LRT mods and SB cameras mods i'd have to do massive rearranging.
Also on the water when I run the game with no AA or AF there seems to be small spots on the water, but I don't think that has much to do with just your mod, I think it's the game but I thought I'd mention it. I run the game with at 2x AA mostly anyway.

Interesting... those back spots go away with anti-aliasing! :hmm:

vince0018 09-17-08 06:05 AM

It seems I was wrong, at least partly, about the AA reducing or removing the spots. AA still helps make them less noticeable but in screenshots you can see they are clearly still there.
I've also noticed that when looking at the water up close there are small round-ish waves or ripples and I think perhaps the black spots in the distance may be caused by this. Just like ship reflections in the distance become distorted the game is distorting these small ripples.
I may be wrong about the water ripples but it seems plausible to me. I know little about modding and have no real graphics knowledge so please correct me on anything I am mistaking.
I hope this helps though.
And it seems that in areas where the sun is shining on the water, or reflecting, the black spots get far worse. and darker areas have almost none.

vince0018 09-17-08 06:20 AM

Another thing I noticed is that there are more spots where there's cloud cover. But mostly where the sun is shining on that area at the same time. Like a sunset/sunrise or overcast sky with the sun behind the clouds.
Areas with no sun and cloud cover have no or few spots.

onelifecrisis 09-17-08 07:23 AM

I've not seen any screenshots of these "spots" so I can't say for sure but - try enabling AF, that might fix them.

Philipp_Thomsen 09-17-08 01:35 PM

Look at the water on a clear dark night and tell me what do you see!

Task Force 09-17-08 02:13 PM

I got little black triangles on the horison.

Water mod

i have been running the water mod for a short time and it looks very good i have read about the black spots ...:hmm: when i run the mod i dont have spots but a very dark green pattern on the waves which to my mind looks good the only matter i can see is the way the waves break over the bow but that is only a small thing and i have not seen it in light or heavy sea's only in 7m winds, dam good try though

vince0018 09-17-08 05:38 PM

The black spots look similar to reflections cast by ships at a distance. How they look quite distorted. If someone can tell me how I may be able to post screenshots.
And I'm checking out night time right away.

1 get a acount with a image hosting site.

Copy pics Adress/code.

Put code in post.

Or look at the SH3 pic thread. Dowly put in a tutoral.;)

Philipp_Thomsen 09-17-08 06:14 PM

Forget the pictures for now. I've changed completly the way that reflections works. The V1.1 version is being uploaded on my filefront page, as well as the first post has been updated with the changelog and some pictures.

Those screens have been posted on the first post of the thread, along with some new info.

The V1.1 of this mod is already avaliable for beta-testing at my FileFront page, by clicking on my signature.

I am speechless.
I just tried the new version at daytime settings and nighttime settings.
This is the most beautiful water... Everything is perfect, the ripples are longer like how you see in lakes and stuff (I've never seen the ocean but I'm sure it has ripples like that.)
This is a huge step from the stock SH3 water. There is no way I'm ever gonna stop using this water, it is perfect. I actually feel like I'm sailing over real water now.
Thank you so much for your long hours of hard work.
