GWX 1.04 Developmental Sneak Peak - AIRCRAFT GALORE!!!

http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s...lanescopy2.jpg

In GWX version 1.03, we replaced a handful of the Stock SH3 aircraft with models that were made available to the community.

In GWX version 1.04... ALL stock SH3 aircraft have been replaced... and new ones added on top of that.

Just following the release of GWX 1.0 last year, JU_88 began the massive task of rebuilding aircraft 3D models for replacement of Stock SH3 units. These were in turn imported by Ref into the GWX mod files.

Great difficulty was encountered at many stages, and overcome. The brunt of these difficult corrections were borne by Ref, and I cannot say enough in regards to the many late hours that he spent to see this task through... only to FOLLOW through with multiple passes and corrections that were later required.

Prior to version 1.04, some community-built aircraft were also produced employing hardpainted roundels. These potentially required cloning and/or reskinning in order to be used in different national rosters. Using markings made by JScones, Ref also rebuilt the files necessary to show correct versions and placements of all aircraft represented in GWX... in such a way that they remain correct no matter which national roster the aircraft units are placed in.

Furthermore, air coverage in GWX has undergone a very deep review and in some places totally overhauled based on in-game experiences and feedback in comparison to various historical sources.

Many aircraft damage models have been further tweaked.

"Real" 3D models of Leigh-Lights have been employed.

Aircraft behavior problems (such as failures to attack by SH3 stock aircraft settings) have been corrected.

Aircraft will now usually make multiple passes depending on their armament. (In version 1.03, some would and some would not.)

...And in general... if you weren't afraid of aircraft before... You will be.
BTW, the Swordfish has a tail-gunner now. Might be a good idea to remember that.

You can view some of the new aircraft models in subsequent posts below. Please note that all skins and / or any specific element is subject to change without notice.

[Edit: Belated apologies for earlier oversights: The airship and V-1 were constructed/imported by Dev Team member Privateer. Additionally, further aircraft skinning and numerous adjustments were carried out by Dev Team members Dowly and Danlisa. Campaign placement and loadout corrections were carried out by Bigboywooly. Thanks for all you do, gentlemen.]

:o :o Would you believe that a couple hours ago I was thinking of how nice it would be to have V-1 bombs?

On a personal note, I had forgotten the models & skins from 1.03 until I had cause to look. I suppose you get accustomed to the good stuff when you already have it.:rotfl:

@ ALL

You are really going to enjoy 1.04.

The current skin for the V1 was taken from a photo we found. However, things are always subject to change.;)
Besides, you'll be lucky to see one, you WILL hear one though.:arrgh!:

Privateer, Danlisa, and Diving Duck have done a great deal to bring that model to where it is now.

Furthermore, the pulse-jet sound file it uses... is from a REAL V-1 rocket recording.

(as are a lot of the other sounds used in GWX)
