How to Install Mods

Dear Submariner,

All you have to do is to download a free software, readily available at
Web:http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/

Run the program, but make sure that you point the install directory to the Silent Hunter Sub-directory on your Hard Disk. Then Run the program this will create a sub sidrectory within Siltent Hunter called Mods.
Add the mods into this sub-directory which had been created. Look at your desk top for the program. Good Luck and Good Hunting.

Hello,

I got my games form Steam too, so I think I can help you.
First of all, download the JGSME ( i believe someone up here told you to do so...)

Ok, to install mods, you'll have to find the game on the Steam folder. It's usually located on C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\silent hunters wolves of the pacific

Once located, extract the JGSME files to this folder. This is the "root" folder for SH4 using Steam.

Follow the instructions of the JGSME Reame file.

Two folders will be created in the SH4 "root" folder: MODS and !Backup.
You can download mods anywhere on your computer, but when extracting the files, be sure to point to the MODS folder (the full path is something like this C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\silent hunters wolves of the pacific\MODS

That's it! There you have it!

Recomended mods are TMO 1.9 (and its patch) and Easy AoB by Mr. Nicholas. The first one is a general remodelation of the game. If you are familiar with SH3, I strongly recommend it. If not, stick to the stock game until you gain confidence and experience.

It can be found here:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=132330

The second is a mod for easier determination of a torpedo solution.
Can be found here (be sure to read the entire post):
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=152945

And look for the Stick posts on this forum regarding tactics, technical stuff and how to's.

And last, but not least...welcome to this (somewhat) crazy community!

Do i put he JSGME File into data or just anywhere in the folder if anyone would help please, i really need it, post a vid, reply, or screenshots pls i reallly need help

The JSGME setup file that you downloaded goes in the SH4 root folder where sh4.exe is located.
Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\sh4.exe

You get the JSGME setup file here:
http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/ <----- Dead Link

It will install the JSGME, a shortcut, and hopefully a MODS folder off the root:
Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\MODS\

Follow the directions up in the post above yours by RodBorza

Welcome to Subsim and Happy Hunting!

Edit:
NUTS the link is dead

Instead download these:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=4333
and:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=3814

If you don't like those links, I have a JSGME setup file I can send you in a RAR or ZIP.
It is dated:
5/28/2009
jsgme_setup.exe
installed ver: 2.2.0.120

I don't know why the version in downloads here is already run/extracted. There is probably a good reason........

It has all the files and folders, just extract - copy to your Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific folder where sh4.exe is.

Thanks for posting this, I just picked-up the SH Bundle on Steam this past weekend, and currently wading through these forums to make sense out of the Steam limitations and work-arounds.

SH4 and Mods

Hi All, I think I have followed all the instructions for mods - have JSGME installed in my Sh4 root and used it to install GFO 1.1 and rebooted. When I launched the game I saw no effect to indicate any of the mods were in place.
So, installed JSGME, GFO 1.1 and installed the mods folder in the SH4 root dir. I rebooted and started the game but it doesn't look like anything installed.
Can you see any problem with what I did?
Thanks

Where do you have Silent Hunter installed? What is the "path" to it, in other words? When you run the install program, it defaults to "C:\Program Files (x86)\ Ubisoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\" - is your path like that, or did you change it? Also, did you install the DirectX v9.0c that came in the package?

Whichever folder that "SH4.exe" is in, is where you put the JSGME install (the easiest way). Run it from there, and it will create a "MODS" folder. Open the MODS folder, and put the desired mod in there. Back out to the game folder and use JSGME to activate the mod. Select the mod in the left column, click the arrow button in the middle that points to the right side. You might get prompted by JSGME, asking if you want to continue. Of course Windows UAC might also ask you some questions... It might take a while to activate the mod, depending on its size... :salute:

SH4 Mods

I installed it in the Root dir but not in any of the program dirs. It reads C:\Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific\
(See I read the directions ;-)

The JSGME folder is also in that folder with the SHIV.exe file further down the list...
