TWoS Strange bug CTD
 

Ahoy to all,
After going through the entire war from Sept 39' to December of 43' it appears I have finally hit a bug that leaving the game and restarting won't solve. The worst thing I have had to do to date is one manual flotilla transfer, other than that it's been great............until now.
For some reason my game keeps crashing to desktop at exactly 21:00 on December 20, 1943. This would be only two days out of port on my current patrol. I have tried restarting the patrol, and the game...to no avail. I am running TWoS 2.2.5 Is this the infamous "campaign file corruption" I have heard mentioned a few times? Any ideas from the SH5 TWoS Gurus out there?
Really would love to go through the entire war with my current crew, and setup.

Must be a radio events problem...Are you sure you didn't mess up something by using unsupported radio or some other mods?

Definitely not. I am running only TWoS 2.2.5
I have had the occasional CTD here and there since beginning the war some 6 months or so ago, never anything that wasn't fixed by reloading the game. This actually may have started at the end of my last patrol. I entered the bunker, and upon talking to the weapons/ gear officer I had a CTD. It seemed odd, so I re-loaded my previous save and returned to port. This time without issue. Then this issue cropped up on my current patrol, and there seems to be no work-around. When this began I was running 2.1.0, and I updated to 2.2.5 in the hopes that this might alleviate the problem. (Yeah, I know that it is recommended to re-install the game for this update) but all else seems to work great. The game works great right up until 21:00 on 12/10/43. Seemed like a radio issue to me as well. Perhaps a message from BDU at this time which is causing the issue? BUt why? All other messages have come through without issue. I can if all else fails start another career, just hate to do it.

I will not be able to test your problem until next week or so but untill then you can try to skip problematic date using "change days in bunker" mod or with appropriate KSD Commander option. You can also end patrol as soon as you start it and than start a new one but in this case you'll lost one rating point. If this is indeed radio events problem, the bug will be easily solved in the next update...Cheers!

So, after following your advice Vecko (return to port immediately after leaving to skip patrol altogether) I am back up and running, but with a strange bug yet remaining. For some reason every time I load a save my camera is out of sectors. This is a problem only when loading the bunker saves ( I am able to get around this while on patrol). I got lucky upon my last bunker save and it loaded in sector however every save since being out on patrol is having this issue. Hopefully this is related to the CTD issue I was having previously and will provide some clue to you as to what the *&% is happening here...

Du you play stock TWoS only Rwearjr?

I checked radio event scripts and there aren't any scripted radio news or messages on that date what so ever, so this isn't the problem...:hmmm:
In following days I'l try to test that particular part of the campaign in order to reproduce some of your issues but so far I haven't found anything wrong in game files. :yep:

It would be good idea to reinstall your game completely and try to use your old gamesaves.

For camera out of sector problem disable "Food Stocks" adddon if you use it...:yep:

Only TWos, with a few of the options enabled thru JSGME. I appreciate your looking into this issue Vecko. I simply have no idea what could have caused it. After skipping that patrol, i am now in January 12 1944 with no more problems of note. The event camera issue is still there, but can be fixed with the food stocks mod disable as you pointed out. The only glitch I have right now is those pesky aircraft, and ever more dangerous escorts :k_confused:

I tested Turning Point campaign on mentioned date and I was able to pass it without any problems or CTDs...This really leaves me without ideas what was the actual problem in your game.:hmmm:
