SMS Emden mod request
 
Hey guys. there is a wonderful mod out in the downloads section called Imperial German Navy ships.

I was wondering, since i really like the Emden in this mod, if anyone would be willing and able to make a good looking retexture of the old gal, or any of the Dreadnoughts in the mod, but mostly the lovely little Emden.
The SMS Emden is one of the most fun ships I've ever played in Silent Hunter. It really feels like a raider, out there on its own. Emden was part of the East Indies squadron too, during WWI so its not hard to think that the Japanese had actually salvaged her and recommissioned her, and gave her back to the Kriegsmarine. :arrgh!:

ps actually the models doesnt require retexturing, but a proper normalmap and ambient occlusion to look good IMO. AND of course i never added all the equipment on deck.

Oh wow i (for some reason) didnt expect to hear from you! Im happy to take her to sea. i currently have a patrol in the Indian with around 200K tons to the Emden's name and Were scourge of the British navy :arrgh!:

I think she looks great, but just a little to gray and washed out.

Hi, I've also download this Great mod. Many thanks jhapprich to have bring those post WWI ships in SH4. Superb job:salute:

I plan to remake all the textures of this mod. I've already done the König.
The Emden will come soon. I've started to work on it.
This work is part of my Ships Skins Factory project.

Thank you ! I like the models of the ships but I've always thought the textures needed work to make them fit into the world environment of SH4 but i am not skilled in modding. I look forward to your project, as, like you, i mostly play SH4 as a surface ship sim now days. It's just so fun to be a surface raider. :arrgh!:

Forget my request, strange thing happen..

The first time I've loaded via JSGME the Emden, the unit appear with just two deck guns, and I can't use the main gun, just the AA one.
I just load for the second time the mod, and this time, there's the 4 guns and I can use one. All the function worked..?!:hmmm:

So I'm just very happy, was so sad to can not use the gun.

The problem with this model is that the main cabin use the texture of the hull.

So, not a problem if we make the 1914 version with its overall grey scheme.
But a problem if we want to make the pre-war version with yellow cabin and white hull.

I managed to work on the occlusion map under S3D (it's because the yellow is a bit bland and not saturate like the real one) to have a cabin a bit yellow and the hull white (Good idea jhapprich to have made an occlusion map just for the hull that give the opportunity to make different shade of color on hull and cabin)

Unfortunatly, I can't manage to make the occlusion map working under SH4..:hmmm: So, if we want the yellow version from 1910, It will be with a white main cabin. Not completly accurate from historical version.
Anyway, if we want a perfect historical accurate version, we still have the overall 1914 grey scheme.

I will post some screen in game.

Other thing, I've a small question for you jhapprich:

When I build a mission from the SH4 mission editor with the Emden, and I want to play it, the unit have just two main gun and I can't use it, just the AA one (As the problem I spoke about on my previous post)

When I use the mission you've build for the MOD, I've all the 4 guns and I can use all the functions of the unit.

Is it normal or did I miss something ?:hmmm:

Maybe the mission date is before or after the programmed commissioning period for the concerning gun. You should check the start and end entries in the weapons.upcge and in the equipment files of the emden. Sorry but the last time i modded was quite some time ago so i don't remember the proper filenames and i am using my smartphone right now.

No probs, many thanks for your help. I'll get a look to this two files.
In fact, the problem seems to be link with the gun use by the player. It's this one that is missing and not two as I said before.

I've tried to open the mission of the MOD under the builder to see how you've built it but I've a CTD when I want to charge it.
