Brain dead escorts

Doing a few of the single missions. Even if they attack, which they normally don't, it's only for a pass or so.
I'm trying to get them on me; never lower scope, high speed, etc. Finally got three to run over my bow and stern, dropping charges the entire time..........and minor damage !? Happy times mission.
Just sunk the Barnham, left scope up after shooting, hit it, and escorts just keep sailing away, never attack me. Strange stuff.
Using 100% realism on the options.

Using NYGM and GWX 3 gold. Surely this isn't normal ? (I know, stop calling you Shirley......)

Are you using both mega mods at the same time? You can't do that!

As a rule I don't play single missions when using a mega mod. These mods were meant for the campaign. Some mega mods give you single missions that were scripted specifically for that mod.

No, I have multiple installs. Good point on the made for the mod single missions, I noticed those, have to give those a try.
Just doing the singles to get the hang of the game.

Thanks !

If you are using a mega mod forget the single go campaign for full awesomeness!

Sounds good, thanks !

The single missions work normally for me with GWX (i.e. as deadly as in career). Are you experiencing the exact same behaviour with both megamods?

Yes. Did each mission (Farnham/Happy) a few times in each.

Something I've noticed in quite a few games, is that if you don't play them "correctly/right", the AI doesn't know what to do.

What is considered "correct/right" ? Myself, I tend to try to do things as they were actually done, or at least as much as a game will allow. Regardless, I'm still mystified by getting run over at periscope depth three different time and depth charged at the same time, with only minor damage the result.

I had a bit more typed up for my last post, but decided to cut it short, to clarify a bit:

Generally for SH3/4, based on my personal observations, "correct/right", could be loosely defined as:
1: Sink merchant ships.
2: Avoid warships and airplanes.
3: If spotted by warships/escorts/airplanes: Hide/evade, do not attack them.

If I do anything contrary to that, I'm playing "wrong" and the AI doesn't know what to do to counter it.

But as far as them running right over you...
They (they=crew settings) could just be inept.
Or newbies.
Or asleep.

It has been known to happen.

Well, the first 2.
A sleeping AI would be a new one to me... :hmmm:

Well, I was trying to be seen/noticed (periscope never retracted, i.e.) as I wanted to see what the AI would do.
Who knows, probably a fluke of some kind. Thanks for the reply.
