So that's the reason why.

I seem to recall what an Israeli once said.
Something about fear of Iran smugling a little nuke to Lebanon and into Israel.

Markus

Could Iran even use a nuke on Israel without effecting Lebanon and/or Gaza or even damaging the holy places to all three religions?

An off topic comment

Had this weirdest dream last night.

I was occupying with something while listening to the radio
Heard following.
USA has fired 22 or was it 24 Tomahawks against Iran.
The American is preparing for war.

End of an off topic.

Would the Iranian even care...From what I know there are muslim countries that can't stand the Jews and Iran should be one of them.

So would Iran even care that a couple of thousand Muslim dies in the effort to kill thousands of Jews.

US says it is working on contingency plans in case Iran continues nuclear advances and refuses to return to talks

...Iran may be less flexible about negotiations, thinking it can take advantage of the Biden administration's diminished standing on the world stage after the foreign policy crises of Afghanistan, a diplomatic spat with France and condemnation of its treatment of Haitian refugees.

'Warning sign': Iran's military reportedly sending warships to Brazil, Panama Canal in challenge to US

I honestly can't see them being any real military threat......now if it was China.

Otto Harkaman 02-01-23 06:14 AM

Well I am sure the same assumption was made about a bunch of Saudi's taking pilot training and then getting onboard a fully fueled commercial jet liner.

The risks lie not so much in formal military attacks of Iran against Western nations, but in nuclear proliferation, terrorists armed with nuclear suitcase bombs, nuclear blackmailing, a standoff with Israel, and generally a nuclear arms race in the region. Also, Iran and Russia closely cooperating. They have just implemented their own financial transaction system replacing SWIFT which is sanctioned on them.

Agree on the former but I can't see the financial system having much impact.

Not for us, but for them, to a certain degree. Its a workaround, and it works around.

Doesn't have to be nuclear, a container ship filled with drones could knock out several critical oil refineries and offshore oil rigs to make a financial and environmental disaster?

I recommend this every couple of years, it seems.
