Suspected of CTD:
MFM-Improved
MFM3.2 displacement correction mod
MFM v3.3 Silhouettes by Izgud
Type IXB - Bremen
Aces' Super Turms v6 for GWX
Aces' Repositioned 105 mm Gun on Types 9b and 9c plus New Type 9b Deck Railings
Aces' Type 9 c-1 Super Turm (Old Emblems Compat v3.2) Alt Grill + 3x MG-34 version for GWX
Aces' Super Turms 6 - GWX Type 9b Tube Doors and Anchor Fix
M.E.P v5

LifeBoats&Debris_v4
Wooden_Lifeboats_Mod_1.1 - surely incompatible with previous mod.

You want disable these mods. Load the last good savegame and check if CTD appears. If yes disable all not GWX mods and repeat this step.
If not - swim away for more than 50km from the base and save the game after this unlucky date without any contact and on the surface .
Then exit the game and try to load this savegame. If it loads without errors, the CTD was certainly caused by one or several disabled mods.

To solve this problem, you have to load one or several mods necessary for coherent operation in an order such as your current list of modes.
In this way, you will track the first mod or group that causes your problem.
After tracing the problem, you will either solve it or skip the buggy mods. You must repeat this step until all modifications have been successfully loaded or some of them have been skipped.

Thank you for replying.
I think that the problem is elsewhere. Probably a date based file but which one.
Anyway , I will start searching to find it.
First step : SH3 C date based files

Check only the first step (disable any not GWX mods). If CTD continues to occur if and only then you should start to look for an error in GWX. Baed on my knowledge, the only factor depending on the date is a change in the IXB configuration (upgrade) that you could change in the port before savegame. So there would have to be a bug in GWX. GWX 3.0 errors in this case only occur for type XXI (configuration files has bugs), not type IX. There are probably no other files depending on the date.

1920 x 1080 resolution without altering GWX 3 Gold.

I tried Ahnenerbe WideGui 1920 x 1080, works great but changes the movies, splash screens and other stuff. Is there a way to get "vanilla" GWX 3 Gold mod with 1920 x 1080 resolution? I have looked here and Googled with no luck. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

I think you can just copy the files yourself

Hi

Just downloaded this mod and looks good. I have a few questions to make sure I am right track.

When I unzipped the total file I got the application to install GWX AND also seven bin files. What do I do with the bins files???

Also, in the JSGME box are a number of files, like"alternative flotillas". I presume I should load these???

Thanks, I only deal with this stuff about 1-2 times a year and I am self conscious about doing this modding things.:Kaleun_Wink:

Answers.

Ignore the .bin files; they are used by the .exe to install GWX 3 Gold.
Before you install any of the listed mods with JSGME, read what they do first!

Hi, I've gotten an error message when trying to install.

"Setup identified the following problem(s) with the selected folder: - Modded files were found..."

It's a clean install from Steam, no mods to my knowledge.

Its a unprecise message. What you must do is select the right folder (SHIII inside "steam"-"steamapps" and all that), and not the automatically marked one, which does not actually exist!

Hope I was clear enough, and good luck!

Thank you! This mod is bloody amazing!

Also, I had the mod files error myself but fixed it just by directing the files to go to the proper directory on my D drive in the Steam common folder. D is where I install all of my games. It's like C for many of you out there.

Thanks again for this mod. :yeah::up:

Been playing SHIII for a while now but can't get it to work with GWX, I get it installed, start the game, I've tried old saves, new career, and single missions, all get to about 90% loaded then CTD. Seems like this is/was a common problem, but I haven't ran across any solutions in searches.

Do not use previous Saved games in GWX, or any other mod or mod change for that matter... The "default" Save folder is in your "My Documents" folder, and is most likely named SH3, unless you've used MultiSH3 to change it. If you want to save the Saved game info for re-use later, when you restore to the previous mod state, you copy and paste that folder elsewhere. But before you play GWX, you need to delete either the whole SH3 folder, or its contents. As an example:
"C:\Users \UserName \Documents \SH3"

Also, you should not have SH3 installed in a Program Files folder, even if you have the Steam version. You should use a folder of your own naming that is outside of the Windows "protected" structure, such as "C:\Ubisoft \SilentHunter3" or similar, so that Windows does not interfere with applying mods. :salute:

Thanks guys!

Another dumb question, can I simply cut and paste the SH folder from the usual Steam location since Steam won't let me install anywhere but the Program Files or D drive which I don't have enough space? Will it let me create another drive and install there? Guess I'll just try and see lol.
