Does IL-2 take advantage of Dual Cores?

I am buying a new computer and I was wondering whether IL-2 takes advantage of dual core processors. I would assume it would but, if it can't, it will play worse than my current computer.

Im not sure..remember the Il2 engine is getting old so I would guess not but it runs great on mine.

IL2 came way before dual cores, so I'd say no.

That's odd...
IL-2 plays so much better with my new computer. Before I could barely play on the highest settings, now I can with no framerate problems. Could be because the RAM and video card I guess...

But I do have a new graphical glitch that I didn't have before, unless i didn't notice it. When at a certain angle, sometimes the water sort of turns a wierd color and gets pixelated.

I'd say your improved performance with your new rig is due to its its RAM and Graphics card and better CPU, but not a result of IL2 using the dual core capability. I run IL2 with the default (single-core) "process affinity" selection.

My rig:
ASUS P5N32-E SLI, 680i
Dual core E6700 Cpu (Mobo upgradeable to Quad-Core)
2GB OCZ PC2 8800 (1100Mhz) RAM (Mobo upgradeable to 4Gb)
BFG 8800GTX Graphics card
Samsung 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor 1920X1200 native
Windows VISTA 32bit
