Uboot base ships.

Back in the early days of SHIII I made some German ships for one of the modding guys. These where to replace the Destroyer escort ships with more realistic ships types. Unfortunately my friend wasn't up with smoothing groups when he added them to the mod, so they weren't quite as nice as I intended. Still they added somehting to the Uboot bases. They were the M35 and T17 and I think a few others.
Is any of these types in the GWX3 or LSH3 2015 mod?

Welcome Aboard!

The M35 and T17 are in the Merchant Fleet Mod 3.0 along with a lot of others.

@HW3,

Lawson referred to models of German warships and not to merchants :03:

@ Lawson,

Sergbuto mentioned that the models of German ships he added to the game were originally by you. The Type 1935 minesweeper, the types 1923/24 and 1935/37 torpedoboats, and the K class cruisers are all included in GWX and LSH since years. If not totally wrong, they are in all big mods!

It is good to see they are still being used. Basically the models were 50/50 me and Sergbuto. I did the main model and Serg added the working SHIII working parts. Unfortunately in that process the smoothing groups where missed as I was working on Gmax at the time and the 3ds transfer file stuffed them up for Serg. Now I work with the real 3dsmax I wouldn't mind remodeling T17 and M35 to make a better looking ship, but I would need help doing the SHIII parts again.
I have since noticed they are in the GWX and LSH as I'm downloading both addons now.

Smoothing groups are pretty much ignored for SH3.
The Game engine does it's own smoothing.
Now some will say that is not true but I've never seen anyone prove that wrong.
And I've been around for a long time.

If you need any help? Give me a PM.
It would be my Honor to assist such an old timer as you!

@Lawson

Jeff is (as usual) right, the game emgine is doing it's very own smoothing; the only thing to care for is to make the game enigne understand what the "hard" edges are.

An improved M35 model would be really, really great. I considered re-doing it myself but dropped the plan because the model is an original creation (no kit bashing) and among the first models ever added to SH3. Such models are of historic value :salute:
That is also one reason why I never completed my work on a new model of the K Class ... the other reason was the poly count reaching 700 000 :D

I can also offer help setting up the game files.
