[TEC:] Hitpoints for Submarines in Zones.cfg and .zon files

Hi Kaleuns,

in order to make my Sub more vulnerable, especially against destroyer artillery and AA guns, I plan to play around with hitpoints and armor level. For the Submarine compartments and parts, I can find multiple values for hitpoints and armor level in the Zones.cfg but there is also one value in the .zon file of the Submarine. What is the meaning of that value?? Does anybody know?

Thanks.

P.S. I have two different possible explainations for the value in the .zon file:

1) The hitpoint value in the .zon file is the hitpoint number of the pressure hull.

2) The hitpoint value in the .zon file is overall hitpoint number of the entire U-Boat. And the values found in Zones.cfg determine the relative distribution of the overall hitpoint number to the compartments and parts.

?????

You might want to take a look at the Longer Repair Times mod as this altered the zones.cfg extensively to slow down the rate at which the different compartments flooded. In my experience with merging my mods, the hitpoint values were increased by a large amount to achieve this in zones.cfg. One other point of note; with the mod are 2 versions LRT 2.04 and a 'Lite' 2.03. The latter omits the .zon files for each of the subs which makes a lot of difference to how quickly the sub amasses damage.

Some people stated that with the full version (2.04), they could run around on the surface taking artillery hits from escorts and the compartments would only reach a yellow level on the damage screen, whereas with the lite version (2.03), the default damage model appeared to be retained, with only the flooding times affected. Also bear in mind that crew efficiency was reduced dramatically to extend the repair times in tune with the slower flood rate but you may find something there when you compare the values side by side that will make things clearer for you.

Good luck,
Damo.
