TMO Narwhal editing?
 

I was just wondering if anyone knew how to go about editing the Narwhal that comes with TMO so that the deck guns only have 2 crew members each, and how to increase the crew berthing crew slots. I also just noticed that my dive planes never move and are actually rotated and folded too far up so they are clipping through my boat. Any ideas?

Sounds like a CapnScurvy question to me!

It can be done by editing UPC files, but if you have never done it before, it can be quite daunting.

There are a lot of good resources for information on subsim. After a lot of reading, trial and error, you should be able to get a hang of it.

After all the work Ducimus went through to kitbash build a NARWHAL and add the gun crews to his boats you want them removed? It would be a sin to explain in detail but generally speaking:


First, there is a lot of info going back to 2008 here that describe these breakthroughs in modding, what was done, and how to do things by text editing and with the S3D Editor.

Look at the bottom sections of the NARWHAL UPC file in Data\Submarines\ and you will see the Crew Berthing section - and lower still another section listing Crew Berthing in a string of text - look how these are laid out and how they match.

Try adding one more to both sections and see if what you did worked. Don't forget to increase a number. Also start a new career for each test.


You'll get it. The gun crew is similar but a little more complicated. Look how a Stock file is for another boat with a similar gun and study the differences.

<sigh> Ducimus didn't like external view and thought in his mod you should operate from inside your boat for immersion - to feel a little bit of what the real commanders experienced.
