Young Bunas Travels
Took the boy to Newcastle Airport this morning to start his journey to Seattle. He is joining his latest vessel Oosterdam prior to a cruise to Alaska and will be home again in four weeks.
Apparently, the company are short of a senior deck officer in the short term due to some unforeseen circumstances and James is happy to oblige, thus enabling him to get the required sea time in to sit his Masters as quickly as possible. Fair winds and following seas bonny lad :salute: |
All the best in his travels including fair winds and calm seas.

^ Yeah, he rang earlier today to say he was about to have breakfast at the hotel (An overnight hotel stay is always provided prior to joining a vessel) and the shipping agent would then pick him up and transport him there.
He should be onboard by now, |

:D Nuthin' Like 'Intercontinental satellite parenting' in the 21st century!:yeah: :O: PS:U R not alone in the offspring auto dept.: I'm off to pick up my daughter in SF where she's assisting her young man, a caskmaster at a CA brewery, at a beer festival on Pier 40-Fisherman's Wharf... having changed the oil, mounted a new mirror and washed 'her Subaru' which she refuses to take legal possession of....and she makes more a year than I ever did!:timeout: |
I was wondering about Young Buna. Glad he's doing well. That may be an excellent assignment for him. A little different navigating than the Bahamas.
:Kaleun_Salute: :Kaleun_Cheers: |
I think he's done about half a dozen Alaska cruises thus far but he does admit because of the shallow and often rocky terrain, navigation is a little more intense than normal.

Came in earlier this morning via email, the view from the bridge: Hubbard Glacier.

When does he become first officer on that newer cruise vessel you posted about a while back?
|
I thought he already was a First Officer ...

He found it hard to settle in Venice and change to the new working systems of a new ships compliment. Someone (not sure who) made it known to his former Captain who just so happened to be taking his old ship into Venice as part of a scheduled cruise and the boy (by invite) spent the weekend onboard with the Captain and his wife, phone calls were made and emails sent and a couple of weeks later a transfer was arranged which was no biggie really, seeing as how both companies are a part of the same group.
