[REL] 110% Realism MOD by PurpleCity

110% Realism MOD by PurpleCity v1.1 for SH5 1.2

This MOD adds some more realism and immersion options by removing some information from the HUD that historically a captain wouldn't have access to. This MOD does not affect AI, or ship mechanics. It is purely a user interface MOD.

The following information has been removed from the HUD as historically this type of exact information was not available:

Removed hull damage % indicator (that pesky health bar)
Removed flooding % indicator
Removed binocular cross-hairs (as it highlights enemy vessels)
Removed binocular target indicator
Removed binocular bearing indicator
Removed periscope/UZO lock indicator
Removed periscope/UZO target indicator
Removed exact range from visual contact reports
Removed exact course and speed from radio contacts on navigation map
Removed "The submarine is close to the bottom of the sea" warning icon
Removed "We are below crash depth!" warning Icon
Removed "We are under water" warning Icon
Removed "We are in shallow water" warning Icon
Removed C02 less than 25% warning icon
Removed compress air less than 25% warning icon
Removed battery less than 25% warning icon
Removed fuel less than 25% warning icon
Removed hull damage warning icon
Removed flooding warning icon

Feel free to add this MOD to larger MODs.

I also have a version compatible with TDW UI 2.5.0 - not extensively tested though...

Total information denial isn't my cup of tea, but have fun with (well, without) that! :O:

Btw, TDW is up to 2.7.0 now, so you should check compatibility with that version of the mod.

THE_MASK 05-23-10 08:02 PM

By the time he checks it , it will be 2.8

PurpleCity, would you make a mod along the lines of this one, but only remove the player guidance icons. I know that TDW's UI gets rid of them already, but not everyone uses his UI, and the original player guidance icon removal mod now has a bad link and the creator will not respond. It would be greatly appreciated by many.:salute:

Never mind, the link is back up and running. Thanks anyway though, and keep up the good work with mods like this.

no indication of damage is not realistic.
Imho in a real sub.. people inside have visual and also technical knowledge of how much damage the sub have in any part. ie.. radio not working or x or y room.. in bad condition ,water flooding x or y the place.. ("captain we took lot of damages.. in x room" etc. no indicator of any damage isnt real at all. So colors to show degree of damage is valid since game doesnt allow people other way to inform about damage . like oral comunication.

the percent indicator not real at least not in second war subs.. no computers. but visual feedback of damages happens in a real sub.

Awesome work! Totally welcomed on this end!

I think the hull damage indicator is a little too perfect. You still have access to the full damage report (minus the health meter). There is some oral communication, the crew will yell out "were taking damage", or "flooding in compartment ...".

Also the hull damage indicator is solely to indicate the hull integrity, not equipment failure or flood damage. As I understand, in WW2 a hull damage report could not have been done at sea.

On a side note, it does change the game dynamic (at least for me). I used to make decisions based on my health meter. Now that is removed, the game is a little more interesting.

Sounds interesting, but right now i would trade it all in to get rid of "Were in shallow waters sir" every 2 minutes form Keil to the north sea!!

Seriously, this is spoiling my enjoyment and i can't find the sound bit for this anywhere!
