Satellite photographs suggest North Korea appears to be preparing to launch missiles or possibly a space rocket, less than two weeks after Donald Trump met with Kim Jong-un to try and bring an end to the country’s nuclear weapons programme.https://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...-a8815211.html
It could well be that diplomacy has failed :hmmm:

Trump should just ignore them ... Let the news media fuss about it.

North Korea would just be a hole in the ground if they start a war anyway.

Let China support them ... I thought they were suppose to go broke last October ... What happen to that untruth?

I would opine that the chances of KJU initiating an attack, nuclear or otherwise is approximately zero. KJU may be a ruthless sadistic crummy guy but he is not stupid nor suicidal. KJU wants KJU to survive and he would prefer surviving in a surviving DPRK where he can continue being a crummy guy.

However, The chances of KJU attacking, nuclear or otherwise in retaliation are higher. If he feels that his control over the DPRK is threatened (regardless of whether it is actually threatened or not) and he feels that he has no other choice, he will use what he has.

The key is not putting KJU in that position. That means ratcheting down the the threats coming from the US, for starters. We need to make it very clear that we are not interested in forcing any regime change, but at the same time would support one.

Let him play in his sandbox with his toys. When dealing with someone who may be governed more by emotional responses as opposed to rational thought, you don't want to back him into a corner where he may feel that he has "nothing to lose".

My concern is not him actually attacking the likes of SK or Japan but more that of a catastrophic event on one of those countries during a test firing of a missile.

Retaliation would be swift and decisive in my estimation but would it be proportionate?

Are KJU taking benefit of the situation in which Trump isn't really popular among the media and most of the world politicians.

It wouldn't surprise me if KJU launch another of his longrange missile and the worlds public and the politicians are pointing finger at Trump-accusing him.

No, North Korea is responsible for its own actions. :timeout:

Platapus 03-11-19 06:33 PM

Its entirely possible. But with the relations between North and South Korea improving, he may not want to mess with that.

At this point, I don't think either country really expects reunification and I am sure that South Korea watched what happened to Germany.

Reunification may be a noble goal, but a lousy reality.

You don't happen to live in a Confederate state, do you... :hmmm: :D

WASHINGTON—Kim Jong Nam, the slain half brother of North Korea’s leader, was an informant for the Central Intelligence Agency who met on several occasions with agency operatives, a person knowledgeable about the matter said.

“There was a nexus” between the U.S. spy agency and Mr. Kim, the person said.

Trump tromped across the DMZ into North Korea. He has invited lil Kim to the US.

....what if Trump's plan is to lure lil Kim onto US soil then have him seized and arrested a la Noriega? :har: Would make Trump the #1 strategist in the World!

mapuc 06-30-19 04:55 PM

^ Oh man

I believe the Trump haters would go berserk and KJU would become a martyre

China !? I don't know how they will react. I could see them being more hostile towards USA and its Allied in the area.

But this is pure what-if...
