As previously mentioned, if you get the Tench or the Balao early, they only have the early equipment. It sometimes takes a while for the guns etc to catch up with those two boats. Previously, the Balao was available after February of 1943 out of Mare, but the game would assign it as early as October of 1942, which caused issues due to the date constraints of the game. Even though we've eliminated one portion of the constraint (and we made missions available for an early boat), the game still keeps the boat with the old gear until mid-43. The Tench is a similar situation. Big difference being that it originally wasn't available until 1945, so if you have it before that, there are no "upgrades" for it until 1945...

What are the dates that you've gotten six mission assignments in a row that take you to the Sea of Okhotsk jldjs? Are they all in the Tench? Did you complete one of them? We want to fix that, not give up on it. :salute:

Yes, I completed 4. Was actually fun, in that I attacked the same convoy and got "better" at it each time.. You'd think "they" knew I was there but they just came on right to me:doh: The last two, I just left PH, turned around, docked, just to see if I'd get the same patrol area. These missions, all S&D type, occurred between March '44 and however long it took to return to PH and start out again. Yes, all in the Tench.

That sounds more like Ground Hog Day than Silent Hunter... :hmmm:

There is only one mission with "Search & Destroy" for that area, and the "star" should place just east of the Kurile Islands chain. Have all of your missions to there basically been the same exact star placement, as well as the same exact convoy?

KaleunMarco finally got it talked through my thick noggin that there were repeats in IDs used in the PatrolObjectives file. A total of 12 repeats (??). So the ID=315 of the Sink Kuriles 01 (your mission) has the same ID as the Patrol Kuriles 06. Now, I would have thought that a person would get a CTD with encountering that, but maybe Ground Hog Day happens instead... I'm still digging through this, in case there is something else going on. Hopefully, a new mix of the mod is out shortly with PatrolObjectives corrections. If I find anything definite with this repeating stuff, I'll let you know. Thanks for the report. :salute:

Running MODS:

100_FalloftheRisingSun_Ultimate_v0.80_RC2_PublicBe ta_EN
301_v0.80RC2_pbPatch005

I am liking this patch.

In my career I am in the USS TENCH with home port MIDWAY and it is September 21, 1943 in port. This career was started from the beginning of the war with beginning port of Midway. I see no change to the boat or her crew.

Upon leaving port however the game has me leaving PEARL. NO Crash.

I sailed across towards Guam. Encountered some whalers guarded by small corvettes and some other small escort with a walk way from the fore gun to 02 deck. While their evasive maneuvers were nice to see and one escort even tried to find me I sunk them all. One an escort while I was in flank reverse less than 1000 yards. Still no one shooting at me.

Dive times much improved
I am getting consistent dive times of 36-45 seconds from surface to 55 feet at standard speed. This is almost exactly what Tambor would get in world war two. 45-50 seconds from periscope depth to surface.

Ship physics seems to be a bit nicer. The extra drag on the boat is there for sure. Many will notice a huge difference in the drag on the boat going from speed to all stop.

Maybe it is just the time of year but there seems to be a lot more rough seas on this patrol.

Cosmetic issue found on the Tench that I had not noticed before:

The forward planes do not move up flush with the body and then down when submerged. At 200 feet and surfacing they do move a small amount but still stay fairly parallel to the body. The large shafts that control the planes stick far out past them into the water and at their other end they are sticking above the main deck and criss cross each other. This criss cross goes away once the submarine has reached 30feet or higher towards the surface. If I had to take a guess it would say they are on the wrong side of the boat, upside down or both.

On the port side of the Tench the water level numbers are turned backwards as if in a mirror.

Parker Tin can is now a Frigate unless it really is a Frigate and tin can is still around somewhere. This was seen at Truk.

After I sank a ship and put two torpedoes in a CV I had to leave Truk. No more fish.

I was sailing back to Pearl when I kept getting map updates of a Type IV submarine moving away from Truk so I turned around to find it. This was not hard the update on the map was consistent. When I found it I sailed backwards to it in hopes of gunning it. (no fish) The Type IV was at zero speed.

Planes came over and I dove and got closer. I came up 4500 yards away and they began to fire at me. Their second shot hit me (I saw the shake in the deck gun view port as I lined up a shot on them) but no sound from their hit on me and that is when the game crashed.

I'm glad you like it better, but I'd better get me a couple of test missions with a Tench, and see what it does... Thank you!

Oh, btw, the Tench always sails from Pearl... :salute:

Funny thing is that I have had it already on three patrols all out of Midway.

I think tomorrow I am going to clean everything out and do a fresh install with the patch and see how it does with the flow of the career and specialist. I have over ten specialist and all officers and petty officers. No enlisted men for crew at all. Weird glitch.

propbeanie 02-05-19 10:05 PM

I'm in the middle of a Tench test, left Pearl January 19,1945 first patrol. Stopped at Majuro to top off, and I'm just now starting in to the Truk Southeast channel. I'm waiting for really-dark so I can come up and get some air and be able to steer around a bit easier. Thus far, the only thing I've found "off" with the boat is the water depth marks on the bow being backwards on the port side (skin). Dive planes thus far have performed flawlessly, as deep as I could follow them and back up a few times. To keep your crew from getting promoted, we're just going to have to make the ships harder to sink, fewer of them, and more DD with superman abilities, along with more airplanes... :har: - just kidding of course... btw, taking the boat fresh out of Pearl, I have got a 5" 25cal deck gun, and two twin 40s, which are shweet... This is NOT an upgrade boat though, like I say. I am starting a new career from Pearl with it. :salute:

Yes the star is in the same place and the convoy(s) are the same all except for the first patrol. The first patrol convoy included an escort carrier. The other 5 had a cruiser, medium tanker, Oiler, small passenger liner, combo freighters, split freighters, Corvette, and a destroyer.

Only few things to say for latest patch, if i may:

- i’m Not fan of new airfield base icons size. They look huge in regard of 0.80 release, wich size was fine IMHO.

- still the AA gun elevation issue.

- no more crazy sub inertia, it’s a lot better.
800m to stop from 15 to 0 knots surfaced.

- Did not notice diving time improvements, but have to look closer

ÉDIT: periscope depth in a little bit less than 1 minute at normal speed for the Sargo...same for the Tambor.
Around 35 second to be fully submerged with crash dive for those 2 subs...they seem to have exact parameters.
I’m happy with those settings, even though i don’t know if they are historically correct.

Fifi 02-06-19 05:33 AM

After i launched the spy guys in their life boat, and started to head for new objectif, this is what happened:

https://image.noelshack.com/fichiers...2-resultat.jpg

Those guys aren't very discreet :o :haha:

propbeanie 02-06-19 08:27 AM

I guess that because the raft is a "ship" with damage zones, that it can burst into flames, and maybe the "Loadout" also influences the flammability, but that is a bit hokey. Did they make banging and scraping sounds on your sub's hull as you launched them? Maybe they take damage from that? What I do to try to minimize that scraping stuff is to come to a stop, and Back 1/3 with a hard-right rudder, and launch just as the boat gets 1 knot reverse. Doesn't always work though... It's almost comical sometimes if you bump them and they flip upside down, but continue to be able to hold the sides and keep paddling...

As for the airfield icons, are you referring to the little white star on a blue field and the GB circles? Which submarine are you having trouble with the elevation, which conning tower, and which gun? Thanks. :salute:

Fifi 02-06-19 10:43 AM

They probably hit the shore, because i proceed exactly like you to avoid the scraping sounds when launched.
I didn’t know life boats had damage zone like ships!
Furthermore the sea wasn’t calm, so a wave crashed them on rocks...maybe :D

Yes for the airfield icons (Japanese, American, British). They looks huge in my opinion. I’d prefer the first ones (in V0.80)

AA gun elevation trouble with Sargo and Tambor (Purpoise also if i remember) with stock conning tower (never upgraded) and stock AA gun (never upgraded also).
From start 41 to mid 42 (never saw any upgrade avalaible anyway for conning tower nor AA gun)
It is the 50 Cal machine gun wich have the problem.
I tried a new career later on (44) with a Gar class, and no elevation issue with the other AA gun (the one with the round aiming circle)

Hope that helps :salute:

It must a glitch in the upgraded boat then. I will be starting a new career with the patch and see how everything goes after upgrades but it will take a while to get back up to 09-19434.

yeah, i get those on an irregular basis. always at the scene of attack. never at the beach.
can't figure out the cause, though.:06:
