With the Setkey tool you can even bind several commands to one key. For example I have bound "return to course" and "ahead 1/3" to Numpad 5, saves me a lot of clicking. All other numpad keys are used too for those often used officer commands like depth under keel, weather report, range to end and so on.

Man, raising the periscope in one go is gold.

As is the recognition manual thingie by clicking on the data notepad.

Great thread. Thanks so much.

My 8 year old was playing SH3 one day when I saw him click on the ship name in the notepad and bring up the info for it. I was flabbergasted. I didn't know you could do that! I had always spent valuable time thumbing through the recognition book. And then he showed me you could press the period key on your keyboard (I think that's it) and if you have god's eye disabled you can view all the vessels around your boat. Again I was flabbergasted and I've been playing this friggin' game ever since it came out. :rotfl:

Then I showed him one. Pressing "Del" on the Num Pad will wipe out the dials and stuff. He said he knew that one, too. I slunk away...he was the better Kaleun. :rock:

Should make you proud in some parental sort of way! :know:
Now challenge him to a multiplayer session and blow him out of the water! There can be only one!;)

Paajtor 01-07-07 07:30 AM

view to heading: -key
head to view: +key
(both introduced with one of the last patches)

remove/restore orange sub-marker: Ctrl+Num.Del
(in GWX, it's completely disabled)

Shift+F11: Instead of taking one screenshot, it takes a sequence of screenshots that can be used to create movies.

Open chat in multiplayer: Numlock (type text, hit Enter)

Enter-key sets time-compression back to 1x:
Quote:

In the Data/Cfg folder you will find the 'commands_en.cfg' file.

At the top are the 6 commands for time commpression. Change command 6 to :

[Cmd6]
Name=Time_compr_normal
Ctxt=1,2,6,9
Key0=0x0D,,"Enter"

Then about 3/4 down the page there are the commands for firing, tube selection, ect... change command 313 to

[Cmd313]
Name=Fire_torpedo
Ctxt=1
;Key0=0x0D,,"Enter"

Putting the ; infront of a line stops the game from using that line.
(again, in GWX, the Enter-key is already disabled from firing a torpedo)

Very useful and a sly way of marking the thread for quick reference.

I'm a bad boy.....;)

FIREWALL 11-07-07 11:14 AM

This should be a sticky or at least in the SH3 forum or SH3 mods ?

This thread is SUPER usefull to Old and New players and shouldn't get buried.

I know we have a search feature but sometimes it's hard to have the right keyword to get it to work.

How about it. A Sticky ? :D

Jimbuna 11-08-07 09:10 AM

Looks like your about 10 month too late :hmm:

Kipparikalle 11-08-07 10:09 AM

An advice for everyone who has serious problems with escorts, destroyers, corvettes etc.

Go underwater, make much noise as possible to make them notice you.
Then turn your ass to the closest destroyer, wait until it goes straight to you.
Then fire a magnetic torpedo, results quaranteed.

Yeah, I think we should stickety-stick this tread. Give some advice for new Kapitäels
