:Kaleun_Cheers: Ahoy, mariner3302... Pertinent info in "Magenta" Secondary, yet still useful info in " Orange " In short, propbeanie, was NOT saying that you had Oper. Monsun: Dark Waters.... just that aircraft armed with Fido torps, were included in that particular revamped version of the Original Oper. Monsun. Secondly, that with the Original Oper. Monsun (which, you're running with... :yep:) that he was NOT sure if lurker, added in that mod by Rubini of certain aircraft, carrying the "Fido" torps. These were nasty, homing torps... that took out a fair amount of Uboats... Hope this, helps brings clarity in what propbeanie was saying there... mariner3302 :shucks: :yep:  :Kaleun_Salute: M. M. |
If Fido torps are present in original Op.Monsun (as I believe), they are present too in DW :03:

Ya learn something new everyday! I never knew this was an actual thing. Sure explains a couple incidents I have had in the game!
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acoustic_torpedo "On the Allied side, the US Navy developed the Mark 24 mine, and was actually an aircraft launched, anti-submarine passive acoustic homing torpedo. The first production Mk. 24s were delivered to the U.S. Navy in March 1943, and it scored its first verified combat kills in May 1943. About 204 torpedoes were launched against submarine targets, with 37 Axis submarines being sunk and a further 18 damaged." |
I've been playing SH4 since it came out and never looked for mods. Wish I'd done it sooner lol It really has some interesting features. I was reading a book written by a WW1 and WW2 Captain. In his descriptions of depth chargings, he described small rudder deflections of 5 degrees and very rarely more than 10 while deep and silent. Having used this method now for some time, I see there IS a definite difference leading to more effective evasion and escape.

It isn't in all cases an air dropped torpedo. It is an aircraft. I was at periscope depth after a routine dive. When I raised the asparagus (thats what the WW1 crews called it), a Liberator was close abeam and the sound switched 180 degrees when he passed overhead. I still go as deep, as fast, as I can when aircraft are around. Haven't shot it out with one yet on purpose.
|
Depending upon the Liberator, the US Navy version, which is technically a PB4Y-1, has eight rocket racks mounted to its hull, 2 bomb bays full of bombs, and can carry depth charges under its wings and in the bomb bays... being that it has a large fuel tank, it can camp in your area for a good while usually, plus it will call all its buddies to come help hold you down until nightfall, when the Leigh Light-equipped night bombers come along to chase you even more... :o

When the flotilla's are disbanded and transferred in September of '44, the fouled anchor symbolizing the home port goes away. Where do you go to end the mission and dock? I get the refit option but no docking.
Just tangled with a large convoy south of Halifax and this one escort chased me and depth charged the hell out of me forever. Shows how their capabilities are certainly improving as time goes by. |

i am guessing here ..... are you driving a IXC out of Lorient? |
Yep, that's the one...

there is an expected feature involved in that career path, boat, base, etc. my suggestion is to share a prayer with your valiant crew and then start a new career. :Kaleun_Salute: |
That sucks.. I caught an unescorted large convoy off Hatteras at night with a full load of eels.. Pure carnage!

i engineered a Black Sea Campaign last month such that in the summer of 1944 when that campaign actually ended, i would be retired...end of career. but noooooooo. my little 2B got transferred first to France and then to no-mans-land, like you. so, i feel your pain. just enjoy it for it is and forget that there are unexpected features that limit that enjoyment. start a new career in another area. DW lets you patrol Arctic, Norway, Baltic, North Sea, Atlantic, Mediterranean, and Black Sea. pick one and have at it. good luck, Herr Kaleun! :Kaleun_Salute: |
I have done several experiments KaleunMarco, and like you, have come to the conclusion that the game ENDS on a certain date, come H-E-double-hockey-stix or high water, and THOU SHALT NOT DEVIATE from it... :har:
If you try to "end" earlier, you will be doing Groundhog Day until August 1945, or you will have to abandon the scenario... In SH3, it is May... "Surrender this day, else perish!" :hmmm: So it is either https://barkpost-assets.s3.amazonaws...l-not-pass.gif -OR-https://c.tenor.com/g5PEEqgACV8AAAAd/tenor.gif ... frustrating |
I've installed Steam version of SH4 1.5 (Uboat missions addon) and the following mods:
OpsMonsun_V705 OMv705_to_V720 OMv720_Patch5 OMEGU_v300_pkg OMEGU_V300_Patch7_pkg However, the scope GUI hasn't changed, I can't see the German TDC in German boats, and the main menu hasn't changed. Did I do something wrong? |
