WHO DAT UPENDS GUNNERS
Torpedo Bowl Wide Open

Week 15 in the Subsim Fantasy Football League and the post season has produced it's first casualty. Who Dat thought that the #4 seed would so convincingly shoot the Regular Seed dominate team straight out of the Torpedo Bowl with one parting shot.

Let's get to that game, after we do the most important thing today.

IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO NOMINATE SUBSIM FANTASY FOOTBALL LEAGUE FOR BEST OF SUBSIM.

Game two of the weekend and overseas in England, the Helmand Nighthawks were hosting the Australian Taipans in their own International Bowl - winner takes all to the Torpedo Bowl. Nighthawks came in as the #2 after securing the Surface Skimmers Division with two weeks to spare. Australian Taipans backdoor their way in on a count back after having the hardest strength of schedule for the season. Both the Nighthawks and the Taipans started players Thursday night with not a lot of success. Come Sunday though, the Nighthawks composite Running Back pair of Ezekiel Elliott and David Johnson put up over 50 points in quick time. These two RB's have carried the Nighthawks from strength to strength in the last six weeks which includes a couple of weeks where they scored over 200 points. Sadly, the Taipans were once again on the receiving end of a massive scoreline that they just could not pursue. A lack of touchdown conversion by all three of the Taipans wide receivers doomed the Australians to relegation to the Consolation Championship when they just couldn't put points on the board. Taipans get handed another lesson in above average scoring. Helmand Nighthawks book their tickets to the USA for the Torpedo Bowl with an easy 142 - 110 , but then, something awry.

#1 seed the Guns of Hochuli. At 11-3 their only losses came to the Helmand Nighthawks and two weeks ago to the Who Dat Nation as the Nation secured their playoffs with the win over the Gunners. The Gunners have been unbeatable at home, until this week when the Nation rode into town. What ever was in the Nations Wheaties was powerful stuff as the Nation racked up a very impressive score across all facets of the the game. The Gunners, slightly shocked by the onslaught of points, faded from Championship Contention as Marcus Mariota scored less than 6 points. It was always going to be "by how much" from that point, as the Nation continued to play through Sunday night and into Monday night, sending a message that as a former Torpedo Bowl Champion, their #4 seeding meant nothing, they were here to play. The Who Dat Nation causes the upset of the year by bundling the Guns of Hochuli out of the Championship game 182 - 115.

So, where does that leave our games for this week, the final week of the year.

In Carolina, the Black Cats have the first game of the weekend as they host the Drunk Monkeys for the 5th place trophy. This game is not a pushover, the Drunk Monkeys in the final two wees of the regular season decided the fate of the top four teams. The Cats will have to show up this week to put the Monkeys away, and the Monkeys, well, they just need to show up, as we've documented all year.

For the Bronze medal, the Australian Taipans stay in the Northern Hemisphere and make the short trip back across the pond where they will be hosted by the Guns of Hochuli.

And the Torpedo Bowl - book your flights folks, we're going to England on seven days notice where the Helmand Nighthawks will host the Who Dat Nation. Two teams that have previously won the Torpedo Bowl, two teams that met during the regular season twice, both times won by the Nighthawks. Two teams that have fought hard, particularly in the last four weeks, to earn the right to compete for the Torpedo Bow.

And we'll have all the action including the Saturday and Christmas Day games.

Each week, the Associated Subsim Writers (ASW) will nominated their Most Valuable Torpedo (MVT) of the week, the single player who proved decisive in their teams performance.

For the effort of 7 receptions for 186 yards with 2 touchdowns, for a total of 43.60 points, and lifting their team into the Torpedo Bowl, the Associated Subsim Writers are pleased to present Wide Receiver Brandin Cooks of the Who Dat Nation the Week Fifteen MVT.

HELMAND NIGHTHAWKS STEAL TORPEDO BOWL
Gunners Misfire - Again.

Week 16 in the Subsim Fantasy Football League and it's all over bar the last games this week. We'll go around the grounds from the bottom up, as we put the final placings on the 2016 Season.

In the season of giving, the Associated Subsim Writers would like to wish you and and your family a Merry Christmas, and a prosperous New Year, once you do the following:

IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO NOMINATE SUBSIM FANTASY FOOTBALL LEAGUE FOR BEST OF SUBSIM.

For the fifth place medal in Carolina, the Black Cats were hosting the Drunk Monkeys. The Black Cats have been on atrocious losing streak. At one time they lead the Surface Skimmers Division but they took a cat - nap in the last four weeks and dropped out of the Rat Race. Cats were stunned two weeks ago when the Monkeys caused one of the biggest seeding upsets in history by beating the Cats, but the Cats were going to have none of that in their 5th place rematch. Once again, the Monkeys failed to show up, but this time, the Cats would not allow opposition laxity and just scratched their way to a win. Lead by Derek Car (QB) the Cats were the first team this weekend to have their QB break a leg mid game. While potentially devastating, the Cats were playing their A team and continued to pile on the points and push the Drunk Monkeys into a post season drought. Black Cats stop the perpetual slide and recovers to beat the Drunk Monkeys 158 - 103.

The third place game was placed on the Homeland with the Australian Taipans making the short jump from England after getting eliminated a week ago. The Gunners, the epitaph of the league for the entire year, have had all their bad luck in the last two weeks. The #1 seed an Home field advantage through the play offs, the Gunners found themselves int he 3rd place game after suffering a shock loss. Surely it couldn't happen again, surely the Taipans who were unable to get a win against the Gunners all year wouldn't be able to steak this one away? You bet the Taipans did, and they did by taking vengeance of the high scoring games that lead to their 6-8 record. Gunners started Thursday night with O'dell Beckham setting the Gunners up for 32 points before Marcus Mariota (QB) even took to the field. Mariota in the second quarter became the second QB of the weekend to break a leg, and the inevitable lack of scoring left the way open for the Taipans. Taipans finally got some productivity out of their RB duo to give their team a chance to score, but it was New England (DEF) who finally showed up this year to put in am impressive score and stop the rout. Gunners lack of touchdowns by their receiving corp doomed the team to a loss, it was only going to be by how much. After owing the league all year, Gunners misfire in two post season games, losing to the Taipans 110 - 140.

The Torpedo Bowl - in Wembley England. An unlikely venue for the final game of the year after the Nighthawks shocked the league leaders the Guns of Hochuli in the first round of the play offs. Likewise, the Who Dat Nation, a former Champion of the League and also a shock winner in the first round of the play offs, made the Trans - Atlantic crossing with Rod Stewart. The Nation flew in with a similar regular season record to the Nighthawks. The Nighthawks and Nation met three times during the regular season with the Nighthawks taking two of the three meetings. The Nation were desperately wanting to level the score and add a point note by doing it int he final game of the year, the Torpedo Bowl.

Early part of the game was controversial at east, when the Nighthawks started Hunter Henry (TE) who wasn't even scheduled to play. Who Dat Nation took advantage of the zero score to have their kicker, Matt Bryant come out and 19.75 points up. With a zero scored countered, it looked like the Nation were going to overcome the spread. And then, Russell Wilson (QB) arrived. Wilson, who has been up and down all year, had a career game lifting the Nighthawks to an impressive lead. Who Dat Nation fought back across the Christmas Day games to put some points on the board and close out their scoring at 127.10 points, a 25 point lead over the Nighthawks who still had three players to appear on Monday Night. In the last five weeks, the Nighthawks running back duo of David Johnson and Ezekiel Elliott have carried the Nighthawks hope successfully. The 20 point lead just didn't look like it would be enough, and although we all held our breath for an entire half of football of Monday night, once Dez Bryant (WR) crossed for his first touchdown, the jeweler was called in to begin engraving the Torpedo Bowl Trophy. Helmand Nighthawks come from behind on Monday night to finish strong, and win the Torpedo Bowl and the Subsim Fantasy Football League, with a final score of 163 - 127.

That just about wraps up the season with the exception of two items. The first is, we'll be back tomorrow night after we finish compiling the votes for this years Most Valuable Team. But for the moment, we have to let the Helmand Nighthawks revel in their sweet victory and give them the honor of one more accolade for the season.

Each week, the Associated Subsim Writers (ASW) will nominated their Most Valuable Torpedo (MVT) of the week, the single player who proved decisive in their teams performance.

It wasn't hard to find this weeks player, we just have to look at our Torpedo Bowl final for the hero of the season. For the effort of 10 passing yards for 1 touchdown, 4 receptions for 70 yards and 2 receiving touchdowns, for a total of 29.50 points, the Associated Subsim Writers are pleased to present Wide Receiver Dez Bryant of the Helmand Nighthawks the Week Sixteen MVT.

ALL STAR TEAM NAMED
And We Honor The Fallen.

Subsim Fantasy Football League has come to a close, and in Webley, Mister Chris and the Helmand Nighthawks are celebrating their end of the regular season run that carried them to the Torpedo Bowl.

Congratulations to the Nighthawks, well done.

But the celebrations don't end there - we've got one more round of awards to hands out.

This is perhaps the most difficult and coveted award to issue. It comes as no surprise that all the players in one group originate from the same team. It does come as a surprise however that the lowest place team, ended up with three award recipients.

But the most difficult part of this award is honoring those who have gone before us, who have earned the right to have the most esteemed team in the Subsim Fantasy League to be named after them. And there were plenty of contenders this year - it seems each year we loose more friends that we get, this year, was especially brutal.

It is with honor that tonight we present to you, the 2016 Subsim Fantasy Football All Star Team, named in Honor, of one of the Associated Subsim Writers (ASW) favorite, villainous actor.

2016 ALAN RICKMAN DIEHARDS

I love this thread: culturally, it has nothing to do with me and I don't understand any of it, but I've always wished that I could be involved in some way. Maybe I could help out with refreshments next year...?
