Is there any news?

I'd love to use Type IX even with VII-uboat interior! She's amazing, a true 'ocean' U-boat for long-haul operations :arrgh!:
all related unit's specifications (displacement, size, speed, crash depth, etc.) could be adjusted in SH5 files... |
... Maybe someone else could create type IX for SH 5?
|
does look great but look like real life got in the way again
|
....welp...expect another update in 3+ years.

From a realistic standpoint, no big rush here. The type VII could carry 14 'eels' and the Type IX could carry 12 internally with 10 more externally....however early on those external (steam only eels because torpedo batteries need constant servicing) were reduced to only a few as damage from depth charging and the hazards of reloading at sea(2-3 hours-long unable to dive!!??) This isn't the best quality, but here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDpNQCCsyTU rendered the concept impractical. The IX's were ordered out of the primary Battle of Atlantic theater to safer areas. 'Money (DeutchMarks) is the sinews of war' and the cost of IX's unable to function with their intended 33% increased eel-firepower is a violation of that principle both tactically and strategically.

Lots of info on this thread; learned a lot. My ability to apply it? We'll see. :haha:

Man I would love to see this happen. I cannot believe no one has actually done this considering how popular an IX boat is on the spectrum of silent hunter and it baffles me that the actual producers left this out. I just don't understand why the SH3 base upgrades and purchase options are greater than its successor...
|
It sure would be nice, but alas, most difficult to accomplish. Read the thread, and you will notice that mkiii ran into issue after issue when attempting to activate the IX... SH5 is very restrictive in many aspects of its modding "interface"...

Welcome aboard!
SrgtTurk!:Kaleun_Salute: I see the the infamous :subsim: seven-year-itch has brought you to the surface, finally, after a long 'silent running' since 2017!:arrgh!:

why wait?

:yeah: https://inchhighguy.wordpress.com/20...rine-interior/ Again, as on the U-505 at its capture, externally stored 'eels' fared poorly. U-505 toploaded eel after depth-charge damage recieved during capture> https://www.history.navy.mil/content...3105217066.jpg Quote:
