I may have a suspicion of what is going on.
:hmmm:

I'll need to check and see if I can reproduce this or if someone else can confirm this in their install.

What Video card do you have?

Moonlight 10-03-16 12:02 PM

While extracting the zip I came across 2 image file overwrites, I'm not sure whether to overwrite them or not, clarification is needed first before my new career start begins.

just select auto rename for now.
Those files are on the list of trash to remove for the next Beta along with a ton of other stuff.

Jeff-Groves 10-03-16 12:23 PM

I've created a Beta Testers report area in the Black Hole.
As soon as RR OK's it We'll get you Guys in.
:salute:

I have a feeling he may be busy today with a little something I sent him.

Also I used RUIM mod and the effect continues. If you zoom the officer (closing him or using binos), the effect disappears. Misterious....

Many thanks and best regards.

Let's look! FOTRSU v0.26. Porpoise. Pearl, middle of 1942.

Well....looks pretty okay but MIGHT see some fine lines in there with my averted imagination.

Yah, he's got more polygons than the US has states there! Yikes! Let's look at the enlisted guy's hat.

http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/a...pswgym4sxq.png
Yeah, if you maneuver as close as you can possibly get and find the perfect angle you can see some polygons in the enlisted man's cap too. But it is much smoother than the officer's.

Let's fire up GFO to see how the stock game looks.

Hahahahahahahahahaha! Now I know why we don't remember the officer wearing a polygonal hat. He has no polygons in his hat. He's bare-headed. But this guy has a polygonal HEAD.:haha::D:D:har:

So that's the answer. The hat is a mod. It fixes the polygonal head by adding a polygonal hat. Can we do better? Sure. Would it make the game use more memory and run slower for no gain in gameplay? Yes. I think we'd best leave it alone.

Thanks fitzcarraldo, that was fun!

They're good to go as far as I'm concerned. Hey, YOU're a high-falutin moderator. Do some high-falutin moderating, bub! Open the floodgates. We ask that beta testers create an identity so we can sort out who says what. Thanks beta testers!

I think we should post a link to the site and let people see and post as guests without even having to log in. I think that's already enabled in the settings. Jeff? Is that correct?

Jeff-Groves 10-03-16 02:01 PM

Yes. Anyone can view the Black Hole.
Anyone can sign up.

That baby, and probably some others, are sorely in need of max-peck's pixie dust! Max, where are you?

Jeff-Groves 10-03-16 02:03 PM

My RFB in the same mission (torpedo training, sink the Mogami, Porpoise class), same graphics settings, same GC settings via Nvidia Inspector, all the same.

Hats looks better. And my lookouts have eyes to see! (In FOTRSU itīs needed TMO eyes mod).

I see in your installation, you have the polygonal hat, too. Whatīs the problem in FOTRSU?

In my RFB, if I apply RUIM, the hats looks better than RFB default, no visible polygons.

Best regards.

Fitzcarraldo :salute:

Jeff-Groves 10-03-16 05:01 PM

I'll get a test fix up for the Hat.
I have a clue but it needs to be tested.

Rockin Robbins 10-03-16 05:56 PM

The problem with melded together mods in a supermod is that it's sometimes necessary to know what mod installed the polygonal hat. Then find another mod which has a better hat then switch the .dds files.

Personally, I'm never going to look at the hat anyway and I don't care if my exec wears a jester's cap so long as he does his job. If he wants to wear one of them origami hats, more power to him. At least they're cheap to replace.:D:D
