That looks good Oberon, I really like your style :)

TLAM Strike 05-17-10 04:01 PM

Oberon maybe you should make an illustrated history of WWII, you seem well on your way to that...

Dowly 05-17-10 04:05 PM

Goddammit Oberon, now you made me want to resub to WWIIOL. :-?

Oberon 05-17-10 04:49 PM

Thanks all :yeah: I'm working through the Battle of France to the Battle of Britain since it has been 70 years now. It's semi-personal too because my great-grandfather was in the BEF. :salute:

ajrimmer42 05-17-10 05:13 PM

Awesome

Quick test render of what I've been working on. It's eventually gonna be something like a derelict hospital corridor. It's far from finished but eventually it will have a nice coat of peeling paint on the walls and ceiling, plus doors/windows/lights etc. And maybe a nice wheelchair :D Really pleased with the tiles though, yep they are individual, yep I manually adjusted the broken ones :yeah: fun fun fun

Lord_magerius 05-17-10 05:25 PM

That's gonna be one hell of an atmospheric image when it's done :D

Yeah it's small lol. Quick test render, but it's really starting to take shape, still a few bits to do though, ie lights on the ceiling, I'm gonna board up the windows a bit, and get some volumetric lighting in there :D

Done :D Pretty pleased with it, my first proper interior

Lord_magerius 05-19-10 07:12 PM

That's awesome :D Not done any proper 3d work in ages. Might dust Daz or Bryce off after viewing that methinks :)

Nice work.

Would be interesting to try some 3D programs, but the programs probably cost quite a lot of money. :dead:

Usually the freeware variants of programs have the: "You get what you pay for... Nothing" featurewise.

Edit: Found a list. http://www.software4free.org/3d.html

Also try GMAX, I used it for a long while before I got 3dsmax.

Raptor1 05-20-10 01:42 PM

GMAX is an excellent modelling tool, but unfortunately it lacks any sort of renderer (At least it did when I used it).

Yes it still does, infact Discreet ceased support for it, they host the DL and give out new reg codes and that's it. But if you want to learn modeling I recommend it since moving up to 3ds Max is easy, and 3ds max is widely used.

Lionclaw 05-21-10 12:29 AM

Downloaded Blender, seems good. Reading a tutorial at the moment learning its features, and 3D modeling.

ajrimmer42 05-26-10 05:28 PM

Yeah! Quite possibly me best yet. Just need to model a train to go in it :D

Work the lighting a bit. Make it more brighter so it doesn't look like the tracks just end there but so it shines more and thus blurs the borders of the end of the tunnel. :hmmm:

ajrimmer42 05-27-10 08:12 AM

Thanks for the feedback Dowly, I agree. I've added a lens flare and some glow, which now masks the end of the tunnel :yep:

Dowly 05-27-10 08:15 AM

Much better.

Dowly 06-01-10 10:17 AM

Playing around with FumeFX. Gas pours in the first 30 frames, after which the temperature raises to 500C and ignites it.

(IE might show it in slo-mo, FF shows at normal speed)
