I'm a french PC simulation enthusiast (not only about submarine) but I remember well how I tried to fire torpedoes on SHII with my 486 SX25... :DL
After having bought SHIII and SHV, I'm reinstalling the last one with a lot of mods enabled (cf. mille-sabords.com).

Voilà!
BDU= Me
Flotilla Kommodore= Vonharris
Flotilla Chief of Staff Kapitain zur See= Andwii
Chief of Patrol= Open

Vince82=Lt. z.S.

Donitz Elite Flotilla Game Rules

Required

SHIII or GWX
SHIII Commander
Pencil and ruler
Our grid map (see tutorial thread at our sub-forum)

You Must

Be in port on any year after the game start date (June 1, 2012).

Provide BDU with your U-Boot type and number and your U-Boot Commanders name. You may change your Commanders name but not your U-Boot number.

At the start of the game or any time after you begin play by requesting a patrol via the Enigma Flotilla sub-forum ***8220;Request a Patrol***8221;. The game will run for three months. If your patrol request is granted your orders will be posted on our sub-forum under ***8220;U-??? Orders***8221;.

Patrol Rules (any violation of these rules will cause a loss of some points)

You must start the patrol at your base. You may not start at sea.

If you are escorted from your base to open sea you must follow the escort.

Any game play exceeding 128TC will result in the loss of some points.

When setting course you must use the most expedient course to your assigned patrol grid. You may engage any non-Capital shipping on your outbound rout. The same applies to your return to base. There is a safety zone of one grid adjacent to your rout. Any ships that you sink outside the safety zone will not be awarded points.

When you arrive at your assigned patrol grid you must stay there for 24 hours at which time you can return to base. You can not warp speed back to base you must navigate back too and dock your U-Boot

When you receive orders your assigned patrol grid will be the coordinates to the grid. You must use the Donitz grid map to plot your course (see tutorial at our sub-forum).

When you finish your patrol you must provide BDU with a copy of your patrol report.

Any deviations from the above without the approval of the Flotilla staff will result in disciplinary action (loss of some points).

MODS

Most mods are acceptable
Any mod that makes you a super sub or gives you unlimited ammo may not be used
All equipment on your U-Boot must be within the historical time frame of the year you are playing.

Additional

All of your approved tons sunk will be converted to game points.

The contest winner will receive a $25.00 Gift certificate to the Subsim Store.

You may play with difficulty less then 100% however there will be a slight point loss for each 10% under 100%.

Final award system
From : Kommodore von Harris Commanding officer
To : All Commanders
Subject: Award system

After Staff meeting occured we have the final point system

The final point award system

For each 10000 tons player gets 10 points (the 1000 in the first post was a typo)

Then use the equation:

Points = [(tons/1000 + AP) x var1 x var2 x var3 x var4]+bonus

AP = aircraft points 1 point for each aircraft shot down

var1 as follows:
year 1939 - 1940 1
year 1941 1.05
year 1942 1.15
year 1943 1.45
year 1944 1.65
year 1945 1.85

var2 as follows realism
level 0 - 60 1
level 60 - 80 1.15
level 80 - 90 1.30
level 90 - 99 1.50
level 100 - 1.60
level 100 1.90 + map updates off

var3: The Uboot factor
Type II Ubooten have 5 torps on board while VII and IX have many more 14 internals + externals
So I think for type II we can use this
var3=1.2 if type II is used

var4 TC : Half of the award points will be lost if TC exceeds 128.
var4=0.5 if TC>128

Bonus
1. For years 1944 and 1945 player will win 20 points just for making back to base in one piece.
Hull integrity doesn't matter.
This award will not be given if TC used is more than 128.

2. For long range patrol more than 65 days player will be given 10 points
This award will not be given if TC used is more than 128.

If player is killed in action he can:
A Lose 300 points and rejoin
OR
B Wait for the next contest

The dominant news for Germany in the past days was not so much the new French president, although that may be due to a slight underestimation of the relevancy of the French vote for Germany, but the federal state elections in Northrhine-Westphalia, home to 13 million Germans and thus the one of the 16 federal states with the biggest population of all.

The Merkel-party was given a crushing defeat, the socilists and Greens won with flying colours.

Northrhine-Westphalia is in a very threatening fincial situation, and while it has some better economic potnetial than greece, the financial situation has been compared to the dimension of the Greek tragedy, if one takes into account the differences in population. The old and most likely new coaltion government of SPD and greens have vowed to make more debts and increase the burden for the future generations, because their social responsibility ends with the voters whose vote they cna get right now. In the past two years, the plans for the fiscal budget have been stopped by the constitutional court due to violating debt limits and constitutional conditions imposed on budget plans. The socialists also want to make stronger absue of the "Länderfinanzausgleich" and suck more money from economically healthier and socially more realistically planning southern states like Bavaria and Baaden-Würtemberg. Just to underdstand that they cannot raise their spendings if their earnings break away - this is what they do not want to take into account. Quite the opposite, the SPD is currently on a party-trip in an attempt to unify qwith France's Hollande.

The once total dominance of the CDU in federal state parliaments, has being evaporated in recent elections, leaving the CDU with a minority only in the second national chmaber.

Merkel also has no names left that could line up by her side and support her. All potential rivals have been bitten away or voluntarily dropped the towel and left the party. Others got burnt up in scandals, were chasen away to positions where they could not threaten Merkel's authority, or got defeated in state elections. The CDU, by its program does not exist as a conswevative party anymore, since years. I mean it when I talk of Merkel'S party only. And Merkel is the only argument they have left to maybe win next year's national elections. With Europe jumping to the extreme left, Merkel now has a very difficult, isolated and lponely stand everywhere, national, international. But since she so far always has just balked loud, but then obeyed international pressure and allowed to hollow out the "tough decisions" she was advocating (especially the now disliked Sarkozy pulled her over the table several times), I somewhat doubt that it makes a real difference in total effects.

Germany's Social-Democrats return to relevancy

"It's going to get harder for Merkel"

One thing is worth to be mentioned. In number of total votes, ALL established parties have lost, even those who won in shares and seats. It has been like that in the election two weeks ago in Schleswig-Holstein as well. Interesting also is the age-structure of voters in said elections. It were the old ones going to vote, while the younger ones stayed away. The erosion of wide acceptance of democracy as well as trust in established poltical structures and established names is continuing. And the Pirates, well, they are no political party but both an egopist and ifantile protest movement playing anarchy and calling that circus politics. Amusing, but not really helpful, not even for a politician-eater like me. Their level of lacking education, knowledge and competences is terrifying.

I know I know, Penguin, I've seen your sig. But sorry: no sorry at all - that's what I think about them.

RSRD has the Task Force that launched the Doolittle Raid in April 1942 at the right time and place to launch.I am working on adding the airstrike to the campaign which it lacks(surprising Lurker never put it in there) as well as a stand a lone mission to release where player sub acts as a lifeguard for the raiders. While not historical to really do so, it would be fun, challenging, and interesting, since watching planes attack the ships is a lot of fun in RSRD.

I would prefer to have B-25's so do not have to use a substitute.Anyone have a B-25 model they could make into a mod so it's easily adding to RSRD? Thanks in advance

I never tried this but is it possible to connect a running SH3 Cmdr that's now working with GWX to a new and different Mega Mod install of SH3? I'd like to continue the campaign I'm currently running now. I'm planning on saving the whole SH3 campaign from My Documents and then putting it back in . Is there anything else to do? I haven't tried any of this in a couple of years and have forgotten a lot of what needs to be done, all from being burnt out with SH3. It's fuunny tho, I could do all this in my sleep when I was in SH3 hot and heavy.

My SH3 install is on a second HDD and I'm going to remove the exe shortcut from my desktop and shut it down. Unintal the mods and move the mod folder to the new install, along with JSGME.

I don't have the Multi SH3 installed yet. Tried once and could never get it to work properly. But... I'm going to try again.

I guess old age and CRS really screws the pooch now. Makes me feel like a newbie all over again. LOL
Thanks guys.

Hi guys. Just grabbed SH4 and expansion from steam. Long time player of SH3, but had a 4-5 year break.

So I just started the German campaign, no mods installed. First mission is to deliver supplies to a port in the east pacific. I arrived at the port and the ship somehow autodocked (the game took control and docked the ship on its on). But then nothing happened. I waited for a while and just nothing. I can't use time compression above 4x (assuming it's in a port) and there's no raft or boat coming out of the sub. Mission still show incomplete. Worse yet, I still don't have control of the sub, can't reverse out, can't turn etc. Can plot a course but cannot follow course. So essentially stuck. Saving and reloading doesn't unstuck me.

Anyone else have this issue? Bug with campaign? Any ways around it?

OK. Long time player of SH1/2. Decided to revisit the franchise and download IV from Steam when it was on special offer.

So. I started downloading SH4 Wolves of the Pacific then got reading about the modding that tended to prefer v1.5 included with the UBM expansion. This was on offer at Steam too so I started it downloading then went to bed.

Woke up this morning and UBM had installed but SH4 WotP seemed to have paused downloading. Clicked on the link to UBM and it seemed to run ok. In the meantime I've cancelled the install of the Wolves of the Pacific.

Question is, have I got the full 1.5 version? Where do I find the version number? Secondly have I got a borked install? There seems to be campaigns available for US and German but no standalone missions for Germany. Should I have installed one at a time. Is the U Boat expansion standalone complete with the original game on Steam?

Second question, when I get this sorted out does the modding work ok with a Steam install?

Sorry to sound like such a numpty but herein lies a lesson for doing something without thinking it through first.

Oh, Hi everyone by the way.... o7 :-)
