It's an unusual event that shows the need for closer monitoring of near space for Earth-threatening encounters, a scientist with the program said.<br />
<br />
The objects don't pose a threat to Earth, and they will not be visible to the naked eye, said Donald Yeomans, manager of NASA’s Near Earth Program, which tracks potentially hazardous asteroids and comets within 28 million miles of Earth.<br />
<br />
The objects will visible from Earth as tiny specks of light with the help of moderate-sized amateur telescopes, he said.<br />

1st thanks so much for this community, I'm new to the SH series and loved the III &amp; IV and was disappointed with the 5th episode, but YOU FOLKS SAVED THE GAME, i really mean it, with a couple of mods from around here my SH5 is playable and enjoyable.<br />

The other day i suffered a heavy flooding in Fore Torpedo compartment and couldn't do anything about it, so i wanted to know if maybe i've missed something i shall have done in order to &quot;repair&quot; or at least constrain the flooding ??<br />
<br />
Also, with TheDarkWraith TDC mods, the original TDC dude is always in the full middle of my Attack Periscope, anyone knows if i can move him or so?<br />

When I initially tried to get used to it on my first couple playthroughs on realistic, the damn thing kept fouling up and sending torpedos far off target. Hell, one time I damn near torpedo'd myself. I actually saw the torpedo whizz past above my conning tower with my attack periscope (was diving after launching to avoid getting spotted by the soon-to-be-pissed escorts).*EDIT* Btw, it was funny as hell, and I tried to recreate it, to no avail.<br />
<br />
Due the this, I largely abandoned the use of it. I typically just get in position as close as possible and eyeball it with a decent spread and torpedos set to high speed. It served me well enough that I never bothered to learn how to use the bloody thing.<br />
<br />
However, I'm trying to increase my skill level and actually learn how to play properly, so does anyone have any tips with it? <br />
<br />
One problem it particular I have trouble with is later in the game when I try to lie under the thermal layer until the first escorts pass by, by the time I bring the boat up to periscope depth to attack, I usually have very little time to get all the info put into the TDC, and often by the time I do, I no longer have a good shot (or worse, I get spotted and have destroyers breathing down my neck)<br />

Also, a side question: What's a normal amount of tonnage for most of you, per patrol? I can usually sink a few merchants each patrol, even with my half-assed eyeballing. And since I'm assuming most of ya'll are a hell of a lot better than me, I assume you guys get even more on average. And it seems rather high. Were subs that effective in real life?</div>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div>After ficing my mods problem, i installed RFB 2.0 and a few other things. i started a new career in Manila with a Sargo. i put as many skippers on board as i can get and head off. i started heading towards the western part of luzon when sure enough i get contacts. it was one warship extreme range. one then turned into 4. i assumed it was a destroyer and a few gunboats and a subchaser. i TCed and ended up abruptly stopping 20 minutes later when i recieved around <b>15</b> contacts. this was no doubt a task force. This early, it HAD to be something big. i used external cam and shot foward12 KM and sure enough, there were 3 battleships, 2 Heavy cruisers, one light cruiser, 8 destroyers and strangely enough a Merchant was in there too. it was anything big, just a lowly small tanker. i believe the battlehisp were......fuso maybe? it was a little odd looking to me. ive seen mostly all of the japanese battleships and i could quite put my giner on these ones. <br />
<br />
I immedately abandoned my ourse and turned to an estimated intercept course and dived. <br />
<br />
The really rotten part of this story so far? the destroyers saw me already. they sent 2 at first, and i didnt even notice. i tced and was stopped a few minutes later (game time) by me getting shelled by destroyers trying to hit me underwater. They had sent FOUR destroyers. i had NO intention of abandoning this opportunity. they had already pinged me, and since they already knew where i was i pushed to flank and turned hard right. one destroyer was around 400 meters. and my stern tube was a perfect 180 bearing, so i fired. it ran for a few seconds and bounced off them like if it hit a giant rubber band. a dud :nope:.  there was a destroyer moving perpendicular and right behind the one i just shot at, giving me another good shot. i fired, but it was mocing too fast. my torpedo fired and had to take a wide turn , and AGAIN bounced off the same destroyer i had just fired at. thats now 0 for 2. i turn hard over, but the destroyer tracked me and ran over me. My scope bashed against it, Hard. It didnt do a dam thing to it, but it killed about 12 men on the bridge, and injured everyone else. however, it didnt drop anything (odd)? i turned and fired another shot at that same destryoer, and it tore it to shreds instantly. Vengence!<br />
          <br />
           i  turned again and hit another destroyer, it did nothing instant except make a giant gaping hole. they came around for another run, but STILL didnt drop anything. i turned for another shot and it also only left a gaping hole, no instant effects however. i tced and turned towards their fleet. when i stopped, i looked around and only one destroyer mulled about. it didnt try anything so i set up for another attack. This time however, they sent the other destroyers at me. they tried again, but still diddnt DC me. By then i realized that this was a glitch, so i took advantage of it. i tced again  and 1 minute later i get stopped and get reports of taking damage. it started out as one warning, then turned into multiple system hits. i heard <i><b>Scraping </b></i>noises of metal on metal, and i look in external and theres NOTHING near me. im not anywhere near shallow water, and no ship was near me. i just took a massive beating from &quot;phantom&quot; damage, which has been happening ALOT lately.<br />
<br />
Nothing serious though i again i try to intercept. THe battleships were still 3000 M away and zigging, which meant id have very little chance to attack. i end up catching up to the back, near a Takao HC. i try to go to periscope station, and BOTH scopes are busted. i cant even go into persciope view, much less steup an attack.i fired a few shots based on the last attack i carried out that still stuck in the TDC. They all of course missed. Both scopes were WAAAAY below 1% damage, and yet they couldnt be fixed. terribad damage rep in this game. <br />
<br />
The ONLY consolation prize i got was the 3 destroyers i nailed all sank.  i cant believe because of this phantom damage i lose 3 battleshisp and a bunch of heavy cruisers :x. heres some screenies of it.<br />

I'll need to keep my current graphics card, as im happy with it performance, maybe will upgrade it in a year. So im looking at upgrading the Mobo, CPU, RAM, and Case as my 7 year old system is struggling with todays multicore games.<br />

I was thinking of getting :-<br />

AMD Phenom II x4 965 @ 3.4 ghz. Black Edition, cpu.<br />
Asus M4A79T - Deluxe ATX, mobo.<br />
4gb ram (not to worried about this as its not too expensive)<br />

Windows 7 ultimate 64bit OEM<br />

What i would like to know is would this give me the best bang for buck? <br />
If not can you suggest what would, that is similarly priced.<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div>Has anyone made a mod that gets neutral ships into the game? I really miss the suspense-generating effect of having to ID a target before I can safely attack it. At night in bad weather, having to get right on top of a ship before I can see what flag it is flying. Looking in the Museum, it appears that Neutral countries don't have any merchants or warships at all. <br />
<br />
Which begs the question--I see there are no unit addons at all for this game in the download section. The game has been out long enough, I fear that must mean that it can't be done. Say it ain't so.<br />
<br />
But still, couldn't someone add existing ships to the non-combatant countries and do some kind of scripting fix so that they will be detected by my crew? I remember there was such a mod for SH4 which fixed a similar problem by making there be No Neutral countries. Ships of all nations not friendly were made hostile. That would be better than this.<br />
<br />
If I'm not in home waters, I hardly bother about flags. I just kill the ship 'cause I know it's British.</div>

Two hit one ship, but the other two missed their target and sailed on toward the other side of the convoy.  Incredibly, one hit and sunk a freighter a couple of columns over and the other one sailed right out of the convoy and sank a corvette on the perimeter of the convoy.  I've had one missed eel hit, but never two!  What luck that was!<br />

I declined and lost a great deal of Renown. If I had accepted would the career ended. <br />

Was this offered to me due to my incompetence at sinking ships? <br />
Or is it by chance? <br />

I ended up starting a new career anyways due to being Stationed in Brisbane in an S class being extremely difficult. I plan to upgrade out of my S class by the time I'm stationed in Australia.</div>
