File Name: SH3-Resolution-Fix (7.6 KB) Download
Author: Seeadler (Uploaded by danlisa)
Date Added: 04-28-09
Downloads: 36515
Grade: B+
Description
This mod forces SH3 (and any super mods) to run in resolutions higher than the original coded 1024 x 768.

The original readme is included in the archive.

Instructions:

1) Extract the contents of SH3_XPSP2_Res_Fix_for_1.4b;

2) Copy & Paste the following files to the main SH3 program folder, usually this is C:\Program Files\Silent Hunter 3:

d3d9.cfg
d3d9.dll
SHIII.sdb
SP2 Rez fix uninstall.bat
SP2 Rez fix.bat

3) Once copied, run the SP2 Rez fix.bat file.

4) Edit the d3d9.cfg file on the following lines to include your desired resolution:

resX=1280
resY=960

5) While there, add your desired screeshot path to the line below (please note this mod disables the Ctrl + F11 function, you must use PrtScr):

screenshotPath=C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\SH3 Screens (for example).

6) Start your game and enjoy SH3 as it was ment to be.

NOTE - This fix does not correct aspect ratios for widescreen displays. As yet there is no fix for that.

I am running windows 10 with a vanilla version (1.4b) sh3 with no problems.
When I add this mod silent hunter starts up and shows the first screen then freezes. Anyone have any ideas. I have run as a administrator.

Hi there, I don't get the last bit '5) While there, add your desired screeshot path to the line below (please note this mod disables the Ctrl + F11 function, you must use PrtScr):

screenshotPath=C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\SH3 Screens (for example).'

What does this actually mean?

Thank you

This worked fine for me, Win8.1, 1920x1080. I did still suffer from the torpedo fire when exiting the scope though, so set it back to 1600 x 900. I just followed the instructions, running as admin and Xp SP2. Thanks.

I get it to work and it looks great. Although it looks fine when I get out of using the periscope it fires a torpedo. Any advice?

resX=1366
resY=768
works

resX=1600
resY=900
work perfect too

It runs on my Nvidia and chipset also but the only way I can see the intro movie is running it off my chipset.

Thanks

Hi, just re-installed SH3 with GWX3 as I've been shuffling my stuff around with a new hard drive and wanted to start fresh with the mods; when I installed GWX I got the error about not being able to start the 3D engine which I gather is due to me trying to launch it on a desktop resolution larger than 1024x768, I got it working full screen at this resolution on a secondary monitor (4:3 aspect) however this is not how I'd want to run it - my primary screen is 2560x1440 and has the central spot on my computer desk, I really could not sit and play any game looking to the left or right all of the time.

I have tried this mod with different resolution settings but cannot get it to work full screen on my primary monitor, it just crashes and I have to kill the process to get out of it.

Any advice or alternatives please? I've previously enjoyed playing LSH at full widescreen resolution however I really would like to give the GWX mod a proper go as well (I completely uninstalled and cleared everything to do with SH3 off before installing GWX so I don't think old data is the problem here). Is there a mid-point where I can run LSH for the higher widescreen resolution and have some of the best mods/fixes from GWX?

Maybe I would be better off with SH5?

Thanks!
