Hey guys I was thinking why does the Typhoon not have a VLS. I mean the reason it is so big is so that it can carry a large number of SLBMs and shower them down on the enemy. With this in mind I went ahead and moded the Silent Red October Typhoon to have a VLS. Unfortunately since the game does not allow for Nukes, I compromised by adding P-700s, SS-N-14 Missile boosted torpedoes and 53-65M Torpedoes instead. I figure you could probably fit at least 4 cruse missiles in an SLBM Nuke launchers tube, so I gave this sub 80 of them and 20 of the SS-N-14 boosted torpedoes also 5 wake homing torpedoes. Now you can truly sneak up on the enemy, real silent like, and rain down rocket propelled hell.
This is really fun to use in missions where you must destroy a large surface ship fleet or multiple convoys. You can easily add / change the weapons load-out by altering my text file and it should be easy to see how to add a VLS to any submarine by looking at this text mod.
Enjoy
Please let me know what you think....thanks.

A VLS Tube is a very technical / specialized deal for a sub.... I remember reading a while back that in a Ballistic missile sub launch, Damage is made to the tube, sub, and other equipment. torpedo tube launch has many more differences which are not obvious like being horizontally ejected. there is a fairly simple system of valves, fail safes, and equipment enabling versatility. really the torpedo launch tubes are a port. submarine VLS's are not.
what all this ammounts to is while im sure you could fit and esily carry more than one weapon system. a VLS tube is not equipped to allow, anything to be ejected there other than an entirely self launched, weapon. Now to be frank im not a submariner / Ballistic missile expert, or anyone with specialized knowledge in a relevant field. which should be all the more valid concerning who might care about details relating to realism. provided im not to far off in recalling this stuff... while not common knowledge one dosnt need to be an expert to have some understanding the engineering (not just if somethings possible, Im sure there could be a Sub that could have multiple divisions in each VLS tube allowing for one weapon to blast itself out of the first compartment of said tube. then the tube division opened, or removed and allowing for a second or subsequent system to follow... however as far as im aware such a system is not presently designed, prototype conceptualized , or deployed. so putting it into a mod and using it is entirely fantasy)
Please say something if im wrong. Im never entirely correct. especially when recalling stuff like this. as again ive never even served let alone have experience hands on stuff like this. My experience is in commercial Aerospace Drawings, Machining and engineering and Disseminating specialized knowledge. Desault system CATIA and stuff like that. so do let me know if Im not even close on this one or if I should just not... thanks and sorry...
I do like the concept however provided its not presented like it might really be on a sub.
Anyone? no... awe, come on. While I have some confidence in what i said here, I really expected someone to blast a hole in my reply. mostly because this is Subsim and if not the content, I thought for sure id be attacked on some other level. perhaps I have no right to undermine someone else's work, on vauge memory of something "I remember reading a while back" (uncited Refference) After all if I was looking for a reason to ether defend the opposition or counter attack Nicrolyte since I just didn't like him for someing else he did outside of this topic. Whatever, I must be blocking it out of mind. heh. Cool, I cant even see the annoying people anymore... Awesome!
Nicro, it depends on what people see as damage. You might have soot of damage from the fire/exhaust after you launch something from the tube. But as far as something being wrong with the STRUcTURE, soot & the other stuff would be a simple fix - it wouldn't mean REAL damage that would have an impact... That's something that people would need to clarify...
