Do I need to burn onto disk for it to run as Gold Edition? I directly opened the folder without burning it, ran the installation from the folder (so basically manually installed it), but then I can't find the three playable battleships! Only the LFN Relentless (Hood) can be played with, and thats only in tactical patrols. If I need to burn it...I'll find something...but if you can run the game directly by running the setup in the folder (what you run when you install via CD) but theres no battleship besides the Hood for the LFN. Plz help |

It shouldn't. Still, does this version of the ISO really require burning to disc? I remember one of the post-Resurgent uploads having the the CD-check removed.
Worst-case: Even if the CD-check's still there, extracting and mounting should still work. |

downloaded this and it will not work for me either. I have an original CD for the standard game and it used to work just fine, but for some reason it stopped working. kept telling me to restart my computer, that never worked. I un-installed and now it will not even re-install, either from my original disc or the download. Here are some of my system specs if it helps.
AMD Phenom II x6 100T
Radeon HD 6870 1 GB GDDR5
8 GB ram
Windows 7 basic 64 bit upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
any help would be great thanks! |

I have had this installed on win7 but have not had any luck with win10. The auto run will load up just fine and I will click install after which it will open the set up launcher but proceeds to just hang there as a background process, have tried compatibility mode and to run the set up directly does anyone have any ideas? |

I can't seem to install it, downloaded it, burnt to disk. When I click Install, the cursor goes to "working" for a few seconds, then nothing. The hard drive light and the dvd light remain inactive (no lights=not accessing=not installing...)
I see there are some folders on the burnt cd: DirectX(8), Speech and Windows 98. Do I need to install any of these before I try to install Enigma? What exactly are the files in the Windows 98 folder: Lmsvcp60.zip and InstMsi.exe?
I also tried double clicking on the Setup.exe-same result. I also tried some compatibility settings on the Setup.exe-same result; not installing.
At first, I tried mounting the iso with Daemon tools - virtual hard drive - and it started to install, but hung up at 99% and stayed there for 1/2 an hour before I shut that down and burnt the iso to a cd.
I am using Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. Any help getting this to install would be greatly appreciated. |

If anyone had any luck installing this via mounting with Daemon tools, can you provide details as to how you got this to work?
Please and thankyouverymuch! |

In order to install from a CD you need something to open the ISO file while it's on your desktop. In my case it's "Cyberlink ISO Viewer", from there it allowed me to burn the files to a CD directly from the viewer. Only then I was able to install it. |

I must have put at least a hundred hours in this game when it came out around 2003. I was massively in to survey simulators back in the day, mainly Sub Command and - of course - the Silent Hunter series (not to mention Falcon 4.0). When Enigma hit the shelves it was a much more accessible, action based arcade / sim hybrid with a good cinematic feel to it.
I was blown away by the content and the possibility to play either as a sub or a surface ship captain with the option to give orders to friendly ships (if your rank allowed). I also really enjoyed the alternate history setting. IMO, it is a good story and well told in the campaigns from all three nations point of view. While the campaigns are not dynamic, there is a very good feeling of progression and achievement, as you get awards, promotions and assignments to new boats. The soundtrack is also excellent, it gives you the feeling that you are out on the endless ocean. The Gold version adds lots more to the game and improves upon almost everything (new ships, historic weapons, audio, graphics, better AI tactics and tons of new missions).
If you did not play this back then, just download it and give it a try. It's sad that the developers could not make Enigma to an MMO (if you do not know, that was their goal from the beginning). I would very much play this online, because being an arcade / sim hybrid, skill and tactics actually matters here.
The game worked well for me under Windows 10 with a GF 1050Ti, without any glitches or bugs. Please note that the game is old and it does not support wide screen resolutions. Make sure that you select "GPU" in the NVIDIA Control Panel -> Display -> Adjust desktop size and positions -> "Performing scaling on" option to avoid stretched 4:3 ratio. Also, "Select a scaling mode" should be "Aspect ratio". Yes, you will have black bars, but personally I do not mind (I'm an old time gamer, had many huge and heavy 4:3 monitors in the 90's). I also added the game executable to "Manage 3D settings" -> "Program settings" and set anti alias to "override", "setting" to 8x and "transparency" also to 8x, so I don't have any pixels on my large screen. It is also advised to set "Vertical sync" here to "Adaptive", so your GPU will not generate few hundreds high FPS unnecessarily.
Cheers! |

Hi all,
New to this site but seems to be recommended from searches anyway.
I had this game years ago but not since played on WIN 10 or 8.1
My issue is I can mount the ISO and it opens up to all the files, I select Autorun and get the INSTALL / PLAY tab, but when I select Install I get nothing.
Task Manager shows it on processes but just stays Idle?
Tried all the compatibility settings but still getting nowt.
Will it be better to copy all files to a folder and install that way?
Any Idea's will be greatly appreciated.

I have the retail Gold Edition CD installed, but it wont start on a Windows 7 64 bit system. Compatibility mode does nothing. Worked fine on a previous 32 bit OS.
Unfortunate, as this is a very good game. Oh, well... |
StrikerGil 08-16-19 at 07:39 PM |
In the case of Windows 7 64 bit I had that problem where the setup process stays idle on the Task Manager but won't run.
The way I managed to get it to run was by:
1) Going to Control Panel
2) Changing the system's language to English (US) in Clock, Language and Region. By this I mean, I changed the format to English (US), then in "location", United States, then finally I changed the Unicode language setting in the "Administrative" tab to English (US).
The system will restart.
3) After the restart just clicked the setup.exe without any changes to compatibility, it ran.
After installing the language settings in windows can be changed back without affecting the game.
I've realized that sometimes, even after following these steps attempting to run the setup.exe a second time may not work once again, however, repeating the described process fixed it.
I had also followed the steps explained in this short video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kyoyorh-YGQ
But I already had 32 bit applications enabled in my system so I don't believe it was of much help. |

Hello i download enigma i have windows 10 an it not work for me any help. |
CryinHavoc 02-20-20 at 04:33 AM |
I had the same issue a lot of other people seemed to be having; download the file and going to run the installer but the app would run as a background process instead of an application and never actually start. Here's what I did to fix it but no real promise it will work for you:
-Double click the "Setup" application file to try and start the install.
-Open up the Task Manager (ctrl+alt+del)
-scroll down your list of background processes until you get to the process. The name is something like '32-bit setup.exe' or something similar. (you can sort the list by name to keep the list from jumping around)
-right click on the process and click 'go to details' it'll take you to the details page with the process highlighted.
-right click on the process from this page and click 'analyze wait chain'
-A box will appear that will show if there is a wait chain which is basically other processes stopping the install. As the name 'wait chain' implies, the installer is waiting on these processes for whatever reason and won't begin the install until they're closed out. If there isn't a wait chain, it will simply say, "setup.exe is running normally" (If it says that then this guide won't help. Sorry.)
-If you have a wait chain, it'll display the process/es the installer is waiting on. I would research a little bit to see what the process is before closing it out. Once you're content the process isn't important, click on it and click "End process" on the bottom of the box.
-If all went well the installer should immediately open up and go through the normal install.
Hope this helps but the process blocking my install was a rather specific process and not just some generic windows one so i'm not sure if this guide will help or not. |

An alpha/unfinished version of the Hotel Da Volta mod was released by Kelly as the last development with ERT. I have it, but I'm not sure if he needs to sign off on it being uploaded here. Frankly, I'd prefer if Neal or Kelly did it instead, really! |

Instructions to run Enigma on Windows 10:
1. If you don't have Enigma Rising Tide download it from the "downloads" section of this site. If you have it, ignore this point.
2. Double-click the .iso file. Windows will automatically mount it.
3. Run the "autorun" file. Select install.
4. Google for "DgVodoo". It is a free, compressed archive with many .dll files.
5. Download DgVodoo and unzip/extract the file. You will get a number of folders.
6. Go to every folder, copy all the .dll files in it and paste these in the installation folder of Enigma (the folder with the enigma.exe)
7. Right-click the Enigma shortcut on the desktop, go to compatibility and select "windows XP".

After playing a scenario for 10-30 minuets the voice of the first officer keeps talking. Does not stop until something else happens and then starts all over again. Is there a patch for this? Thanks. |

Thank you very much. I played this game in childhood (although I did not quite understand what to do there). There were no patches in the Russian release of the game, because of this, I could not complete mission 4. In this I hope the publication will work. |

In windows 7 (32bit and 64bit) you might have problems with installation and running the game.
I tried to install from the ISO file in windows 7 64 bit and the setup was not even starting. I could see the setup program running in Task manager but it was doing nothing. The problem is common with older games in Windows 7 that by default run Microsoft Game Explorer. Microsoft has stopped the operation of the servers of game explorer and this causes the problems.
A simple but not permanent solution for the setup to work is by following these steps :
1) close setup in Task manager if it is already running ("End process" button)
2) close rundll32 in task manager (same button)
3) run setup again (to make sure it would succeed I chose compatibility with Windows XP and gave Administration rights, but I don't believe it is necessary in windows 7 - maybe it is in windows 10)
After these steps the installation proceeded normally and I installed the game in a different folder (not under Program Files (x86)). If the game doesn't start try to rename Enigma.exe file to something else, e.g. Enigma1.exe and use this to start the game. This worked for me and I hope it will also work for those who still want to play this game (I personally don't play it but I tried to install it for an old friend).
For a more effective method (but requires changes in windows registry changes) see https://www.gog.com/forum/general/ol...indows_7/page1
Windows 10 have Game Explorer disabled so you should not have similar problems. |

I'm not sure why but I'm not actually able to download the game from here. I have had that issue with one other site. |
